This thread has nothing to do with Osama bin Laden, McDonalds, the Muslim world, GW Bush, the CIA, the Loch Ness Monster, the Bermuda Triangle or the Lost Continent of Atlantis. It is about Yassir Arafat as a person and the now deceased leader of the Palestinian people. I suppose some people feel the need to deflect the truth with inanities, generalities, conspiracy theories and complete non sequiturs and that is absolutely fine, but it's a waste of time I cannot spare

That having been said, you can argue with the stubborn, you can argue with the steadfast, but you shouldn't argue with the stupid. It also is a waste of time.

Know what? Hate our government, fine. We have little to do with the walking rectums in power, we participate in the election process and still things go badly. Hate our way of life, fine. Admittedly we tend to be a little decadent, a little selfish, and more than a little obsessed with television and other possessions (not that you Aussies, Kiwis, Brits, Afrikaners, Dutch and Deutsch are even a smidge better). As a people, we are not responsible for the messes the world is in, whether they were caused by GW Bush, Tony Blair or your wanker Howard.

I don't know anything about hate, it's not a value I practice. I do know that I have nothing to do with what's going on in the middle east. Hating me as a person based solely on my nationality is dumb, mate. Move on. You're being anti-productive.

I don't hate you, you silly goose? I don't know you. I couldn't care less about your country or how americans are as people. If i was to feel anything for you guys, it would be pity. Your leader is a halfwit, worse than that, you guys actually voted him in. That says a lot. Regarding this, it is idiotic to bitch about the job he is doing when the people are how he got there.
    (sighs, whatever)

What about the jews that the palestians attacked in 1948? There is nothign Illegal about the occupation, There was a war for land and Israel prevailed. The Jews wanted peace and were denied it.

I'm glad he's dead. I'm surprised that the Palestinian people on this board don't feel the same way. I've never talked to one educated or intelligent person from the middle east that felt he did any good. The guy was the Don King of Palestine, he used Palestinians like pawns, suggesting they kill themselves to further himself. From what I can gather after talking to people over there (both Jews and Palestinians) things are MUCH better for both partys with that ass gone.

    Yes, yes he is.

There you go, making generalized statements again. ;) I didn't vote for him, I voted for Kerry. Even when I was part of the Gum'mint I voted Democrat.

Edit (afterthought): Trickster, why are YOU and the Howard administration continuing to persecute all those aboriginals?

    See what I mean?

    Right. ;)

Some people assume if you are Jewish you are somehow involved in the conflict, but the truth is many Jews don't really care about the issue or, especially today, even identify themselves with Jewish causes.

Similarly, some people blame the Jews for the war in Iraq, when Jews in the U.S. are overwhelmingly against it.

There is a tendency for some to look for scapegoats and to concoct grand conspiracies to make up for their feelings of powerlessness, frustrations, and ignorance.

Who the hell is persecuting Aboriginals? Not me buddy. Australia is a country for all of us. White and black. It's people like you who separate that start the trouble. We all are under the same flag. I didn't vote for Howard.

But since we're talking about our native citizens, what about the natuve american indians?

I meant "you" voted for him as in the majority. Obviously, i have no idea who you voted for.

    this is typical innit

what is arafat to the arab world ? a representation, who has over the decades struggled for a voice for the palestinians (nevermind the results) and indeed has brought home 'some' pride with the issue hurtin humankind - the number of un resolutions against israel and the world court decision considerin the "wall" illegal are testimony of this representation. isn't it great most of you have condemned the guy without knowin much of his contribution. if the palestinians don't think much of him, its their right - like not approvin the actions of a family member. but what has this person done to YOU or your family ? unlike bush (who has sucked blair, howard and the rest of the 'willin') whose actions are not approved in the whole world, becoz of the effects it's havin on human lives across the planet

i believe there are two terrorist camps we got - those that are servin in offices (politicians, 'the establishment') and the others who're operatin out of jungles, caves, wherever

the commoners, you and i are in the midst of it. it won't be right to choose sides, coz thats exactly what they're tryin to suck out of us - votes. they're both hurtin the human issues, they're both brainwashin, and most importantly are both bombin and committin mass murders of the innocent - regardless of nationality, country, religion et al

lets STOP pretendin we're in the colosseum and givin the thumbs up for the kill

unfortunately, we've become weak over the years and sucked into consumerism and the source of our strength - family, friends have also become a weakness. we are driven by the need for havin a roof above our and our family's heads and dinner on our tables, instead of considerin it as the "slavery" society it's become/in

WHAT WE NEED is to come together, share best practises and rather than becomin a part of history, write our future ..and that of our next generation

WE DON'T NEED the terrorists in both them camps who've brainwashed us into believin we need'em

blair, bush, howard, bin laden, saddam, sharon are only representations. open your minds and eyes to the who's who, coz there will be other names ..but they'd still be representin the camps

    PEACE and LOVE and MUSIC

OK then. I am just as much responsible for the plight of the American Indian as you are for the plight of the Australian Aborigine (and don't feed me any shit about the hearts and flowers of life in Oz, been there and I know better; just as much racism there are here, you just manage to do it without being a nuclear power). I am responsible for Bush and his policies and you are responsible for Howard and his policies.

That's what I was referring to, not Arafat, not Israel, not Iraq, but your generalization that all Americans bear the weight of Bush's deeds. That might not have been what you intended but it is what we inferred. Live with your words.

I'm not reponsible for the plight of the aboriginals.

    Read between the lines buddy.

    Anyway.............................
