I have been barefoot consecutively for 3 years now. Started on July 1, 2002, I have not owned any footwear at all since I threw all my shoes and socks, and slippers out that day.

So it has been 1095 days that I have been barefoot, and frankly, I love every damn minute of it!!!

My inspiration is that I love my sexy feet. There is nothing in the world better than being barefoot. Plus, I just love it when people look at my naked feet. It gets me all hot and bothered.

I just hate wearing shoes, I feel so confined. Try wearing gloves all day everyday, and you will see what I mean. It sucks. I vowed to myself that I would never ever ever wear any form of footwear anymore ever again. With the exception of nail polish. (Not really footwear I guess)

You folks should also give up footwear. Barefoot is the best.
The more naked feet, the more sexier the world becomes.

Never really thought about it until now, but I guess I do prefer being barefoot and am barefoot whenever I can be. Its not always practical though. How do you do it?

It's as practical as you make it. You find a way to do it. It's not PRACTICAL being blind, but people manage it.

My work policy forbids the none wearing of shoes (for healthe and safety reasons), plus walking the streets and boarding public transport would do my feet no favours. If these issues could be addressed, then i would be happy to go 'barefoot'.

you go barefoot when you can. Other times, you have shoes. but you'd be surprised where/when you can get away with being barefooted. Not nearly as many people care as we'd think!

From another Matthew...you could just do what I do...wear flip flops everywhere. To me it's no different than actually being barefoot. The only real difference is that I don't get my feet dirty. I certainly don't feel like I'm missing out on the sensation of feeling the ground beneath my feet...because I tried that only to realize the only thing I could feel...was asphalt or cement.

For that, it's better to simply go to the park, slip off one's sandals and enjoy the grass for an hour or two. :)

[IMG] that makes me sad. Wearing sandals (or any shoe) is like wearing thick gloves. Sure your feet don't get dirty, but you sacrifice so much for that. Even if it's just asphault, it's still so much better than anything shoes could ever do for you. I love the feel of warm asphault on my feet, even if it's almost too hot it just feels so nice. Besides that, when you wear sandals everywhere, there's other surfaces you often encounter surfaces that your feet miss out on. Trust me you're missing more than you realize.

Wearing sandals is not just the same. with sandals the texture never varies. Only truly barefoot gives you all of the variety ! heero134 you're right about the hot pavement it's like an energy boost coming right from mother earth.

i agree...wearing sandals just isn't the same. i, too, love the feeling of warm asphalt- especially after the sun sets and the air cools down and the ground is still warm. when i was little, i used to go and lay on my driveway at night when the asphalt was still warm from the day because it felt so nice. don't do that too much anymore though...sad. my overall favorite surface for bare feet, though, is definitely freshly mown grass.

It would be so easy for me to go barefoot probably all the time, except I can't drive barefoot. But where I live, most people are barefooted. Its a warm climate and a holiday resort. And of course I work barefooted anyway.
Do barefooted people take good care of their feet?

What do you mean, you can't drive barefoot?

    Do you mean it's illegal?

Where are you located? Nowhere in the 50 United States is it illegal to drive barefoot -- not a single one, nor the U.S. territories. Check the AAA "Digest of Motor Laws." It actually has a topic entry for each state and territory directly reporting about "driving barefoot." :) In the cases of each state, it says, "Driving without shoes on is permitted."

One wonders, if driving without shoes on is permitted in every single state, and probably always was, why on earth do they need to specify it? It seems to me as silly as making a separate notation that it is okay to drive with a hat on, or driving with your pants cuffed, or driving with a watch on... Perhaps the AAA is simply responding to ameliorate the common myth that it is illegal to drive barefoot? I myself believed it when I was in high school -- I believed it, but if you had asked me why I did believe it, I could have offered you no better reason than, "Um, I think I heard it from someone, somewhere, sometime...um, that's why." Which, really, is not a good reason to believe something is fact.

I mean I can't physically do it. I've tried. I would certainly crash the car!

But I was always led to believe it was illegal in the UK (where I come from) and I am pretty sure it would be illegal here (Portugal). There are so many ridiculous laws.

Wow I have the opposite problem. I can't drive a car wearing shoes. I tried it recently and it was like trying to play the piano wearing gloves on my hands.

I agree with those who said even asphalt and cement floors can still be interesting. There are many different types of texture even there, and also temperature changes and all. Manmade surfaces are not as boring as they may seem!

Yeah you said it Myranya. Although I really crave natural textures, I also find hot asphalt and railroad gravel fun to walk on.

There's one famous piano player who wears rubber gloves all the time when he's not playing the piano... guess he wants to protect his hands for the piano.
