This is a article from a jambase. This guys job is to go around and listen to shows and write about em. I love phish...but Trey has falling off. If you cant admit Trey is not pulling off what he use to, your the thick one. Trey is an egotistical asshole, and it has showed up in his music. Out of all the great musicians at Roo, he gets Bo Bice to play???? Thats prolly because nobody else wants anything ot do with him!

Nobody would ever say anything about Jerry like this...well,b/c Jerry was all about the music, while it seems that Trey has become all about the money!

I know people who were touring with Phish when nobody was touring with Phish, they love Phish and Trey more than anything in the world and even they say Trey has falling off! Why cant you admit it that Trey is not what he use to be??? You hafta attack other people for their views on this, its just sad...

I will pray to Jah from him to put some love into your heart!

"Trey is not what he use to be" [smokey4208]-- of course he's not what he used to be, he is who he is today. he is not playing what you like, that does not mean its not good. you just don't like it. trey's new gig 70 volt parade, in my opinion kicks ass.....they are a narly jam group.....they are not extremly tight, but "tight" means nothing. like trey said "its not about hitting every change, i don't care if we miss a number of changes, its all about energy." i

first of all, someone needs a lesson in citing sources, you can't just post articles from jambase and not give them credit douchebag

second of all, who gives a shit if trey is falling or not now? if you don't like it, go watch something else, go see panic (the best band around right now!!!), some people might dig what hes doing, i personally am reserving judgement for when i see his new band at 10,000 lakes

of course it isn't as good as phish, quit comparing trey to phish because it isn't the same. would you compare vida blue to phish or mike w/ leo? no, because everyone considers Trey to be Phish, because when they go to one of his shows they can listen to him sing and pretend they are still at a Phish show

Trey is not Phish, and he is doing what he wants to do, if you don't like it, then don't listen!

OK, I am a Phish fan and I'm also pissed that they broke up, but I think some of you guys are attacking Trey a little too much.

I think the reason Trey quit Phish was that he felt boxed in as a musician. He felt like whatever he did and whatever he wrote automatically became a part of Phish, and that he couldn't experiment with different musicians or types of music. He just got sick of playing with the same guys.

I havn't heard Trey's new stuff- and maybe it does suck, but it's important to understand that he's in an experimental phase. He's not trying to please you guys anymore, like he was trying to do with Phish. He's trying to play and write music for himself.

And I will quote my source, although all of this is paraphrased. Guitar World Magazine. October, 2004.

I don't how many times I have to say that the break up was mainly about money before people will listen. Sure, Trey wanted to play with others, that's a given, but the primary reason behind the break up was $$$. Ask anyone in town who used to work for Dinonysian productions, go talk to Grippo, talk to Trey's brother in law. They'll tell you the exact same thing. I'll take the word of Trey's brother in law over all the rumors and speculation by phans who are too far removed from the roots of the band to get the story straight.

Yeah, just fast cash would be the main reason, in my eyes. He still may want to experiment, but I think he's just trying to juice out sales. He said he didn't want to go down as being a novelty and now he's opening for the stones... that's kind of... "what the fuck?!?!"

Bonnaroo 2005 by Jeremy JonesPerhaps the most important responsibility that the press has is to expose the truth and keep those with the power in check. While clearly not as critical to public safety and the development of a healthy society, music journalists - like news journalists - have to be honest and hold those in power accountable for their actions. There was a day when Trey Anastasio was the leader of the Jam Scene. Without question his band Phish dictated policy for years. It's with all this in mind that the words are that much harder to muster. I had considered not even mentioning Trey's late night set at Bonnaroo, but to say nothing would be negating the responsibility of the press.

sounds like someone needs to learn to read...

Me and Harupa, quit attacking people or I'll suspend you for a week.
Dhs and Smokey are entitled to their opinions .
You are not entitled to attack individuals. Bash bands all you want, that 's the price of celebrety, but forum guidelines state that personal attacks are not kosher.

I just wish I didnt have to walk 15? miles to their last show. I dunno I just think they could of ended it better. But I have to say to everyone who thinks post hiatus Phish is awful.. I'd check out 8/11/04, some of IT, NYE in Miami, 6/26/04, 2/28/03, and 7/29/03... is it better than 11/17/97 or Big Cypress.. IMO naw I don't think so however give it a listen and you see what I'm talking about. They were on those nights. All of those shows are quality Phish. I think the thing was pre-hiatus Phish was far more consistent, but those post hiatus dates are high quality shows.
