Stoner Stereotypes

I got to thinking after I read through the parody thread in RT. Not that it's offends me, it was actually pretty funny (some of it- some were just lame... )but I was wondering if everyone automatically thought of some lazy bum when they think of a stoner.

Anyone who knows me knows I work my ass off for everything I have. I'm not lazy at all.

I like certain types of music, but not all of it. For instance, I really don't like Phish. I just don't. and my musical taste has nothing to do with my drug preferences, it has to do with my taste in music! I also like classical music. Does that make me old and boring?

anyway, I don't know what point I was trying to make.I forgot. haha... now THERE'S a stoner stereotype I fit into!

I hate the "he smokes pot, lazy burnout" stereotype. Even though i work 6 sometimes 7 days a week.

I get the "you must only listen to grateful dead/phish music" Yes i do like the dead, though i am anti phish, but my musical tastes go much further then that.

I also think its kind of funny when i get called a dirty hippy from strangers simply because i don't shave for awhile

 

people call me a lazy-stoner just because im taking a different route in life than most around here. ... although i do appreciate the dead and phish, its what i love.

im the type of stereotype that would be "dirty tree hugger" i get that alot , just because my hair is long and kind of dready. it usually is clean though... i dont think of tree hugger as a bad name anyway...trees are beautiful

 

haha headymoechick, thanks for putting yer question into simpler terms for us 'stoners' hahahaha cuz i didnt reely get what u were saying..or i didnt know how to answer it!

but seriously, alot of people just laugh and think "funny" because i always have weed , pipes and a bong in my purse with me haha so that aint not bad! but i am kinda lazy...but i do stuff...i mean hell, everyones lazy sometimes! its our right 2 be lazy sometims!

and some people call me 'hippie!' because of the way i dress and when i state my opinons about certain things. and like my ex b/f was all 'punked' out and so was all his friends, and they were like 'we hate this girl, we need some chick to beat her up...oh, but jamie wont do it, shes a hippie' haha but i mean i wudnt anyways lol and my friend was like 'you're going out with HIM? id picture u going out with like a stoner dude'

 

I kinda fit into the stoner stereo type I guess, except I dont like Grateful dead all that well, touch of grey is a good song but the others sound way to country for me and I hate country music.

ive never really listened to phish, so I dont know about them.

 

Well.....I like the dead some, I'm lazy, I've got long hair, I forget shit almost instantly, it takes me a while to get things sometimes, and uh....yeah....

 

I'm a bit lazy and have long hair, other than that I'm not shure.

 

People rarely call me by my right name at school, Im refered to as "dirty hippie" " tree hugger" "hippie" "stoner", and so on, mostly because I'm basicly the only dirty tree hugging hippie stoner in the school. Most of the kids there are straight edge right wing preps who fear the devil weed with roots in hell.

 

I am very lazy. I can also have some very odd humour (or so it seems, i think its hillarious of course ) and people are like 'hehe you fuckin stoner', in a chummy way, not a prejudice manner.

the one thing that is most stoneristic about me is my desk. theres a tv plomped on top of a pile of paper, a jar of nuts which ALWAYS is full, if i can help it. theres empty cups and saucers sometiems, and food wrapper here or there. dvd's, heaps of other random shit, and weed crumbns everywhere.

but its like.. my land... my bedroom is the one place thats mine, its my own world and i dont care how messy it is. but the floors got shit everywhere im gonna have to vacuum tonighs

 

I'm lazy, but I'm not a burn-out, i still do a lot of work. But i am a stereotypical stoner.
I also like classical music headymoe haha.

 

it depends what u mean by a stoner stereotype. it lyk stretches too much.im just lyk a student tht pases hys subjects unda th influence of THC. lol. lazy nd sometimes energetic lol so yeah.

 

i get the "stupid-hippie-burnout stoner with holes in his brain" one at school, even though i don't smoke while i'm up at school. it's a military school too...so yea.

i also get the lazy one too. i am lazy to a point. like when i have nothing to do, like right now, i don't do anything unless i make myself. but when my job starts, i'm anything but lazy. i'm a supervisor at a sports camp for kids...thats anything but easy...so being lazy is out of the question.

 

I guess i get called stoner most of the time but most people think of me as like a peaceful stoner, like if sombody comes up to me and starts yelling in my face for smoking pot and how i will have no future, I'll sit down and talk to him on what i think of it and he will walk of not Disliking Marijuana anymore, well at least wont come up and yell in somebodys face.
I dont cridisize people if they dont like Marijuana, i respect their opion.
And i listen to most of the old music such as the dead, pink floyd guns and rose, Acdc. but i just love that type of music.

i always get the "well if you didnt smoke pot you'd have more energy" phrase... fuck that... i have low energy because im working over 100hrs every two weeks... not including take home work that needs to get done... fuck it pisses me off the "lazy stoner" stereotype... theres way more lazy people out there that dont smoke weed, and sit there lazy ass on the couch collecting money from state because they found some loop hole or they have some injury that "prevents them from working" <--- this one really pisses me off, theres plenty of different jobs in this world, sure a majority of them can do something


if there is one stereotype i fit into its the forgetful stoner... because i have a terrible memory for the most part... it can be really bad at times

 

yeah, i probably fit most into the 'i dont care' stoner kinda. my friends always say i have that 'who cares' attitude. and people at my work are like 'see thats yer problem, you just dont care' haha lame, huh? i mean, seriously, who cares? i care bout important things but not just alot of stupid stuff that other people care bout!

 

well i was always lazy but now i do more stuff cause everything is 10x better when ur high cept the paranoia makes it 5x less better but then its still 5x better so its ALL GOOD!

 

how do you respect an oppinion of someone who literally has no idea what theyre talking about? i mean honestly how many people actually get stoned and then decide 'its not for me'. obviously there are people who do, and thats a respectable oppinion, but not the 95+% of the population that doesnt know jack about cannabis (including many stoners) but disses it anyway

 

I probably do fit the laziness stereotype but that's only because that's all there is to do around here. If someone asks me to do something physical I do it though. Usually the only time i am lazy is at night, if i get stoned during the day I'm usually somewhat active.

 

anyone who appreciates good music can appreciate classical music.
But yea im often told i fit the perfect image of a "stoner"
