I heard on the radio that the Floyd is getting back together for a concert in the UK....... Thats right, Roger, David, Rick, and Nick..... Everyone but Syd.... Rumer has it that the members extended an invitation to Syd But he declined and seemed un moved by the bands recent revival...... Hopefully this could resault in a U.S. tour.... and maybe, , a new album...... Just wishfull thinking, but it would be groovy...... You Floyd fans in the UK are some lucky SOB's
It's for live 8, which is sort of a revival of Live Aid in 1985. The point is to raise money for aid to africa. The goal was $25 billion by 2010, they already have $23 billion in pledges! P.S. I'd suggest moving this thread to the music forum.
I don't think it'd be possible for Syd to play... he hasn't touched guitar in years. He's screwed up, bad.
How do you know he hasn't played in years...... from what i've heard he's pretty anti-social when it comes to every one other than his sister and mother...... for all we know he could still play .... and still does just for the fun of it.... But i do agree that him ever playing publicly will probibly not happen..
Yea, when they were recording his last solo album, they had to help him piss, by literally taking his penis out for him and pointing it at the urinal...
I am so annoyed I missed Pink Floyd on Live 8 last night. I fell asleep hours before they came on though.
History of another sort was made when Pink Floyd founder/lyricist Roger Waters joined his bandmates onstage for the first time in more than 20 years, playing bass and sporting a huge grin. The group played an elegiac version of "Breathe" as well as the classic-rock radio staple "Money." Expressing joy at jamming with his mates, Waters dedicated the moving acoustic version of "Wish You Were Here" to "everyone who's not here, but particularly for Syd," a reference to original Floyd member Syd Barrett, who hasn't played with the group since 1968 but was the inspiration for the 1975 song. They finished with their classic "Comfortably Numb," from The Wall. http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1505159/20050702/jay_z.jhtml?headlines=true
They were fantastic....my favourite part was Gilmour's solo on Money. You could just tell the whole of London was listening to that.
