christiaity or buddhism Both have no holes in the their logic.Every thing inchristaity makes sense. So dose Buddhism.I wonder and cant decide.Im confused.
christianity has TONS of holes, if you read literally. It almost makes me want to laugh that you say that. If you see it (much of it) as the metaphorical symbolism it was meant to be read as, then I guess either one works. It's harder to get mixed up with Christianity though. It takes a lot of attention and effort to stay on the right line of understanding, and THEN still apply it to life. Buddhism is at least laid out simply and straightforward, though you still have to apply it, which no matter what won't be easy.
kinda like different flavors of ice cream... besides a name, can u tell the difference between french vanilla and regular vanilla? i cant... Niether one is gonna MAKE u happy or content. both have well made points that i'd incorporate into my own beliefs... No Ism that ive found is the right way to go. I consider wut each one has to say as another rubberband that i add to my own rubber band ball
it seems [to me] like a strange choice though...one one hand, a Abrahamic-monotheistic faith...while on the other, what is often toted as a non-theistic faith [i guess depends on how you look at it]... you have your reasons though, and no one in here should question them
simple: Christiaity-get saved believing and get to know Jesus read the bible. Go to heaven Buddhism- rubbing some fat monks tummy and chanting evil mantras Go to hell.
Please ignore this idiot. You should not label yourself as any religion, just study them all then then take the best teachings and apply them to your life.
I'm not really sure you should choose a spiritual path just on the basis that it's logical. Logical consistency is no garuntee of truth. The whole point surely is to go beyond, to transcend mere logic. My advice would be to go on looking at both systems and anything else that you feel may be of value.
You go to hell you retarded bitch. You know 0 abot buddhism, and judging from your attitude NOTHING about Christiannity. You are an idiot, go pump out babies like a good little trailer trash whore. Why do you even post on forums where other people share their opinions when you are unable to accept that of another? I don't recall Jesus being such a nutcase, I thought you were meant to be following his example? Excuse my French, but seriously....This boggles the mind. Burn in hell.
I cant decide christiaity or buddhism Both have no holes in the their logic.Every thing inchristaity makes sense. So dose Buddhism.I wonder and cant decide.Im confused. .......From Art Delfo Hare Krishna! Art Delfo, dear, It is so nice to note that you cannot find 'holes' in the two mentioned religions. You are so young but you have already attained a very high understanding. Probably this is why they say that Godly qualities are more reflected in the young minds with their less illusioned souls. I am, surely, at one with Sir Rubin and BBB that now you should look beyond all religions. All religions follow same one God so, it is prudent to know about the best of all religions and make those good points stand as a ladder for you to go up to attaining God-realization. With lots of love, Kumar.
Art, the choice is yours. You shouldn't ask other people what you yourself may follow for a very long time, and may impact on the decisions you take in life. I'd recommend learning about both of them and then decide, but you don't have to choose one or the other. Apparantly you can be a Buddhist and a Christian at the same time, though the more fundamentalist sects of Christiannity may be a bit incompatible. Honestly, I'd read the bible instead of going to church and being filled with their interpretations, everyone has their own. However I must say that you are still quite young and that you shouldn't choose to follow a religion for the sake of it, you could possible wait untill you are older and have experienced more to decide. I'm sure god wont send you to hell in the meantime good luck, whatever you choose
simple: Christiaity-get saved believing and get to know Jesus read the bible. Go to heaven Buddhism- rubbing some fat monks tummy and chanting evil mantras Go to hell. ........................From "t" >Amber< Hare Krishna! Dear Amber, Everyday we do certain things wrong. For some, one day, we come to a grief, for some we feel the sense of compunction but some wrong doings become embarrassing for ever. Dear young lady, Art Delfo talked about holes in the religions. What I understand is we only see them or see them not, it is all in our eyes and understanding. While you tried to demean the Buddhism and the Buddhists, in my eyes and understanding you demeaned Christianity and my dear Lord Jesus. How can we limit our dear Lord Jesus within Christianity and the Bible. I can feel Him everywhere, in every words of Buddhism, in all the pores of all fat monks' tummies, in all the vibrations of all the mantras. How the Lord can be evil or ugly ? The evil or ugliness is in our eyes, readings and thoughts. But look at Lord Jesus, still He says and prays to forgive us! Amber, dear, please come out from your selfish narrow shell and thoughts, look out with an open mind, you will see not only Jesus everywhere, you will see even yourself in every conceivable thing......then how would you dislike or hate anybody and how would you see 'holes' in anything ? After all, you cannot hate or dislike yourself ! There is no intention to hurt you dear girl. I am sorry if you get me wrong. With lots of love, Kumar.
Dearest Art Delfo, Those who replied before me said it best...except perhaps Amber hehe...but um...there really is no one true path except that which makes you comfortable...God is in everything...so pick the path that suits you best...or see them all and smush 'em together to your liking...anyway you do it...if you are seeking God, and loving God...then it doesn't matter how you label yourself or even the particulars that you believe... best of luck with your journey...and at the end of the day...always reflect...and it seams that for some strange reason...that everything that you were looking for was within you all along...lol...life is just funny that way. *Peace and Love* Nicole
I agree, and I'm definitely the type to just look at all religions and look for similarities, and base my beliefs upon those similarities. I figure they're all pointing towards the same thing anyways. But if one is going to choose just one religion, I'd not suggest Christianity. Logical consistency may not be indicitive of the truth, but it is easier to get lost in the logically inconsistent. You can spend a lifetime studying Christianity and not get it. As I said, at least Buddhism is laid out relatively simply. 4 noble truths, eight-fold path. Of course the Truth is there in Christianity, but seems harder to find. You gotta wade through a lot of bullshit.
Reading between the lines helps...I see a lot of Christianity as symbolic more than literal...and its seams that it is taught literally
I mainly agree. But where Christianity is concerned, I'm not sure it is illogical - if one accepts the basic premises on which it's based. In fact, I think it is thoroughly logically consistent, a view held by none other than that champion of logic, Bertrand Russell, who says in his 'History of Western Philosophy' that in fact, 'nothing nearly so pat has arisen since', (he is speaking of medievel Christianity) or words to that effect. It is of course another matter as to whether the premises themselves are logical. But probably, they are as logical as the premises of any other religion. But, and in this I also agree with Russell - logical consistency can be a very deceptive thing. The example he gives 'the king of France is ill' is a logical statement on the face of it, trouble is, there is no king of France. Funny thing, logic......... God bless you my friend!
I dunno, but I wouldn't treat it as making a choice. There's nothing saying to have to choose, so I would go with both, if that feels right, or neither. Just be wary of people like Amber. Make it your own choice, 'cause if you love god only because you're scared not to, you don't love him at all. And Kumar...You rock.
Don't get hurt. J.W. calls themselves Christian, but they are more like new-age... for Christians Jesus WAS NOT an Angel,(the Bible clearely states that). And there is a hell (that too), and that everyone who's saved goes to heaven. J.W. States that Jesus was an Angel, that only, what was it? 12,000? (correct me if I'm wrong) people will go to heaven, and that there is no hell. They're different!
Really?? I actually thought Jesus made it really simple and clear right here (John 14:6): "I am the way, the truth , and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. " hmmm...
