Like pretty much everyone else, I'm a very busy person with a lot of stress in their lives but also a lot of good times. I live in a small house with my parents and a very active puppy and there are noises going on 24/7. Since the new puppy is getting used to our house, we all leave our doors open, so I'd feel bad if I had to close the door for a while to meditate and Lacy might come in and interrupt my concentration. I'm usually real busy at work, being a receptionist/office assistant, so there's no time to meditate there. If I went outside the house, Lacy would go crazy being left in, and if I was outside with her, she'd interrupt me. So, where/when/how do I find the time to meditate with all that busy life and distraction?

Why do you want to meditate?

My point would be that if it's important enough for this person, then they will find a way to create the proper conditions. It also seems impossible to get to Paris, France, but if one is adamant enough then they can save and buy a plane ticket. Where there's a will there's a way. On the other hand, if meditation merely seems like a nice idea, or some fantasy then it will forever remain in the realm of unfulfilled wishes, just as the plane ticket will be forever out of reach. In each case it takes some planning and committment.

I am sure your dog will not die if you close your door for 15 minutes.

"When you meditate don't make the mistake of thinking of trying to shut the world out. All the distracting sounds coming from outside are actually part of your meditation. Expand your mind, include everything, birds singing, children playing, even cars that pass in the street. There is nothing that is not Buddha and there is nothing that should not be part of your meditation."

-Robert Allen (from 365 pep talks from Buddha)

if you feel like you cant deal with interruptions, draw yourself a bath with a nice smelling bath beed or bath salts and light some candles or something. and just meditate in the tub.. it would be nice and relaxing..

hopefully this helps you a little

oh! and what kind of puppy did you get? :D

I agree with Sebbi about being in tune with everything, I understand the quote now, so lately I've been trying to meditate and let all things that annoy me pass me by and trying not to take them as distractions so much as just the changing world around me.

BTW, day_tripper, we got a German Shepherd/Huskie mix named Lacy :)
