damn thats totally out of line. You have your hair the way you want it. Also i have noticed that when my parents comment on my style they are trying to be helpful most of the time. MAbye you dont look good with long hair and they are just trying to help you out. Just think about it a little first. If thats not it keep it that way. I always liked long hair on guys.

sounds like you need to decide on where your priorities lie.
You don't say your age, so I am assuming you are under 18...

If shelter and food and the other things living with your parents provide you.. are high on your priority list then you may have to make a comprimise or a sacrifice if they are not willing to work something out.
Maybe you can catch your mom in a good mood and say something like..."ok mom, I appreciate being here, so what if we go to a hair place and talk to someone about getting me one groovy ass hair cut"?

After she picks herself up off the floor, she just might go along with it.
Tell her you would like to keep some length but you are willing to get it spiffed up. If that will make her happy.
Some things are just not worth all the drama.

Now, now, I know your hair is important...but you are not the length of your hair.
You are you, and until you can go out and fend for yourself....maybe the hair is not all that #1.

the same thing happened to me man. the only problem my parents had with my long shaggy hair was that it was always in my face. So I just parted it. and now I have it in a pony tail. Its refreshing to not have hair in my face, considering everytime i lit up a cigarette it burned my hair.

If that doesnt help then i dont know what will

My mom said the same thing about my dreads she also said they look like turds on my head. I ignored her and pointed out that she wears her hair the ways he wants...puffy& short. I also help out around the house a lot to make up for my appearance so she has no legs to stand on...

I think it is messed up that your parents hold you to that standard. You shouldn't change yourself just so they feel better taking you out in public.

    Your right Green.
It would be nice if people didn't comment on how another chooses to wear their hair or clothes in a negative way.
However It is causing a problem for freedom and he wants some ideas on dealing with it.
If he does nothing then the problem will get worse so I think its great that he at least wants some peace to come from this.

If he were over 18 or prepared to live on his own then no prob...move out, don't change yourself.
But if he wants to live there , then some kind of comprimise will have totake place or the shit will keep bringing him down.

now Trance at least sees that in order to take the pressure off of one area (her hair) she has given more effort to another (helping around the house) thus a comprimise of sorts has taken place.
As you grow you will see that there will be times when a comprimise is the best way to go.
