My husband and i have aquired massive amounts of white T shirts. We will be batiking them..my question is where is the best place to get good vibrant dyes? Dharma Trading Co? Which dyes are best? What about 'locking' in the colors? Soda Ash?

    Thanks ya'll...

Hi! Saw your post and thought I'd jump in. I tie-dye, and in addition to Dharma Trading, you might want to check out www.fiber-arts.com. Michael Fowler, the owner is doing everything he can to offer everything you might need or want in every area of fiber arts. Hope that helps!

Pro chem. Why use a middleman and jack the cost...unless he can get you mint green, then it's worth it.
Soda ash is for soaking (see the dharma site for directions) the white, I guess in batik that would be prior to any waxing.
Don't get Dharma dyes with one exception: Better Black, it really is better.
I like Dharma for bolt yardage, though, and interesting blanks.

soda ash works well, or salt too. Most craft stores sell it with their dyes. With some brands, the longer you leave the dye in the more vibrant they become...
