al-Jazeera to expand into west: http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/meast/07/04/aljazeera.spread.ap/index.html The U.S. govt could stop them cold by declaring them a terrorist organization as they did with the Lebanese-based al-Manar, whose satellite signal in the U.S. shut down by the U.S. govt last spring. Only trouble is that some of the funding for al-Jazeera comes from Saudi Arabia. .
al-Jazeera has a lot of raw video from the Mideast. There's nothing comparable to it in the U.S. media. They show footage that you don't see on the U.S. networks. There are other Mideast networks that are similar, such as al-Manar and Saudi TV. I think Dish Network carries al-Jazeera, but it's not in English. .
Heck yeah I'd watch it. Between the BBC, CBC, PBS, FOX and Al-Jazeera we'd get a good picture of what's really going on.
I agree Shaggie. It is a very good news source and surprisingly moderate. They really do just report and let you decide. They don't interject opinion or bias anything like Fox. http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/E4D19123-9DD3-11D1-B44E-006097071264.htm
