If you host a party (and your Veg*an) would you cater for non-Veg*an's ? as in serving chicken etc..

I highly doubt it, though from what I've read they seem to expect others to cater to them. Of course though non vegitarians don't not eat vegetables so it's not like they don't eat what is there, just that and more, so I suppose in the end it's really rather irrelevant. :D

If I were cooking for my family, I would have meat for them, because I would expect them to return the favor by having veggie alternatives for me.

I'm only good at cooking fish. My son is the awesome omni cook, so I'd probably either get some prepped flesh food or enlist Arlo for his bogogi.
I would assume if I was asked to provide all the food, as in cater, that the occasion was special, so All health lectures would be suspended.
I would of course provide veg*an food.

My attitude has been a live and let live until someone asks. Then they have put in the quarter and away I go!

I usually don't. Just for the reason that most meat eaters eat also vegetables. I know no single meat dish that has not a veggie side dish. Also, I consider my cooking as an art, it's very conceptual. I experiment a lot with colors and the consistency a food is in. Like soup that can be cut or things like that. ;-). So usually people are so surprised, they don't even miss meat!

Once somebody asked for a lil meat, just because she can't cook any, and I can, so I fullfilled her wish.

hell no, I think all these meat eaters out there on the rampage can handle not eating meat for 1 dinner or 1 party! Also if I was cooking for my family( like I used to when I lived with them up in maine 5 years ago) they could handle it for one dinner .

Absolutely not. Meat is not allowed in my home. I'm a very good cook, and everyone would be able to eat and enjoy whatever Vegan cuisine I chose to make.

i agree with mrsshf, and a couple other of you. if i am hosting a dinner, my guests are always pleasently suprised, and satisfied with what i cook them. most omni's eat meat and animal products every single day, and they LOVE coming and seeing the endless possibilities of vegan cuisine. i also find, that it puts minds at ease, when they see that we too can eat yummy casseroles, awesome gravies, cream-style soups, and so much more.

if i am having guests for the weekend, and that is just a bit too long for them to go with out any carcass, well.. that is when i bring out my old hibatchi, and set up the outdoor kitchen. i refuse to have it prepared in my house. i ain t anal about it, just living my choices.

as for the whole 'expecting them to return the favour'..well i dont excpet that. i am such a picky eater, that i turn down most offers anyways. but my dishes at potlucks are always consumed very very fast.

let me amend my earlier post: the assumption was I'd be taking it somewhere else.
In my home, veggie all the way.

I'm an omni. If I accept an invitation, I am accepting their hospitatlity. I assume that they are inviting me into their home and sharing a bit of their life with me. In short, I assume that veg*ans will feed me veg*an food. I would feel a little weird (honored but weird) if someone made a special meat dish for me.

i wouldn't make it because i don't want it in my house, but also if i were to cook it i'd probably mess up it BAD and give everyone food poisoning. which would suck.
