a George A Romero movies based of the Creepshow comics...4 shorts, dont the same way the comic bok is done...excellent movie even has Stephen King playing a yokel... oh yeah, and Land of the Dead is good too
Haha Ive seen that stephen king one, where hes Gordy or something like that.. and he grows all the green stuff on him... And then the Ted Danson one... Those Creepshows are pretty good.. I dont know which one it was but it had those kids stuck out on that raft thing, and the thing in the lake, looked like an oil spill thing would kill them.. I dont know which one that is though..
I was living in Los Angeles when Creepshow was released. George Romero and John Harrison (composer of the films score) were autographing copies of the soundtrack recording at Tower records on Sunset blvd in Hollywood. I wanted to go but had to work at Georges Market on coast hyw that day. Eventually did get ahold of the recording some years later at a second hand book store in Columbus, Ohio. Pretty far out electronic film score! Haven't seen Land Of The Dead. Say it's pretty good huh? Check out Tom Savini's website (www.savini.com) I remember going to the drive-in when I was 7 years old in 1968 with my father and brother and watching the original Night Of The Living Dead on a huge outdoor screen and being freaked out and terrified! My brother gave the the soundtrack to that film as a birthday present in 1981 or thereabouts. George Romero makes damn good films!
If you want to check out a seriously creepy film score - check out Tangerine Dream's work on "Sorceror".
"Sorcerer" is a wild score! Tangerine Dream during that time were at their best don't you think? Couple of weeks ago got ahold of a vinyl pressing of "Kamakaze 1989" soundtrack by Edgar Froese (haven't had the chance to listen to it).
havent seen any other creepshow than this one... our origional plan after seeing Land of the Dead was to rent Night of the Living Dead, cause two of us had never seen it, so we got kinda pumped...then the place didnt have it, so we got Creepshow instead
Burby - I doubt back woods Canuckistan would have "Tales from the Crypt (1972)", "The house that dripped blood" etc. And yeah, dark Tangerine Dream rocks.
Everyone needs to hear my sad Creepshow story: My local video store sells their old hardcover VHS movies for $2. I've gotten plenty of quality films for two bucks just because their cover's are a little clunkier. Anyways, I walked in a few weeks ago and I see Creepshow in hardcover for two dollars. Unfortunately, I was (and still am) ridiculously broke and I just didn't have the two bucks to spare. (They wouldn't put it aside for me either) So, for the past few weeks I kept going and visiting it, vowing that as soon as I had the money, it would be mine. So, payday came around and lo and behold I had a little extra cash. I hightailed it to the video store and searched the racks for Creepshow. And searched. And searched. It was gone. I asked the clerk and she said some lady had come in and bought Creepshow and a few other selected horror titles I'd had my eyes on. Anyways, I guess it was never meant to be. I love Creepshow... But Land of the Dead wasn't as good as I was expecting...
i know its probobly a joke...but im not so much in the back woods...but yeah...i wouldnt doubt if one of the 3 video stores in town had it...
I hit the wrong quote button a few minutes ago. Anyway check out all of the Romero films from "Night Of The Living Dead to "Martin" to the original "Dawn Of The Dead" and the rest. Tom Savini directed a remake of "Night Of The Living Dead" a few years back. The old black/white Italian film "The Last Man On Earth" with Vincent Price is pretty damn good. From the book "I Am Legend" by Richard Matheson which is where George Romero found his inspiration for the Dead films.
Just a few more words then I'm off into the wild blue yonder. Several years ago I worked with a guy who was originally from Pittsburg who said he and some buddies would skip school and hang out at the cemetary seen in the opening of "Night Of The Living Dead" and smoke weed.
I have Creepshow 1 and 2. One is my favorite, mainly because it had that disgruntled dead grandpa and that crazy monkey thing.
haha, the cake thing was one of the funniest shorts ive deen in my life... and i love Romero's use of random blue or red lights...
