A few weeks ago, I was at a major intersection near downtown, and at the corner were two attractive-looking young girls. It took a moment for me to realize that they were asking people in other cars stopped at the light for a ride. When one of them made eye-contact with me, I made a split-second decision to help them out. They got into my car and gushed appreciation for the lift. I even went pretty far out of my way to take them where they needed to go.

They were sisters, 20 and 19. And they were both crack addicts. The nicest two girls you would ever meet, but addicted to fucking crack. And they've been on drugs since FOURTEEN. They don't have jobs, they don't have a permanent place to live (i.e. they're homeless). They do whatever they have to to make money to buy themselves crack. I don't believe they steal or hurt people -- they are just not that way. But they do turn tricks. And they have to hang out with some nasty-sort of people. And it saddens me to my core, because I got to know them and they're such sweet girls. At one point a year or so ago, one of them almost died of blood poisoning because she wasn't eating and had gotten sick, and was wasting away.

This is what you're heading for. Straighten the fuck out.
