this is just a thread for curious eyes, to maybe show people how easy it is to leave meat off your plate. or maybe for vegetarians or vegans slipping out of the life-style to keep inspired and motivated. or maybe for you all to just enjoy posting here and connecting with like minded folk...so post away wat youve been munchin on, preferrably vegan or organic-vegetarian things only for obvious reasons.
uhmm let's see i had a bean dip yesterday at lunch but then i only ate fruit and ice-cream...i simply can't eat anything when it's so hot outside
i recently got very addicted to scrambled tofu. i bought this italian herb tofu and scrambled it up with onions and cauliflower and this spicy olive oil my dad had and it was awesome. i thought it would be crap because i used to hate tofu but it was awesome. stuck in in a pita and it was great. also four bean salad. i love that stuff. if i had to live on one thing for the rest of my life, it would likely be four bean salad.
Organic Mashed potatoes, baked beans, pretzels, rice... I love Legumes! My favourite food. Also spinach and potatoes with free-range eggs..
lentils and rice....I absolutely LOVE lentils and rice. I've been cooking them in my own homemade vegetable broth, and then eating it with pita bread. I also made vegan chocolate ice cream a few days ago which was amazing, though I've already finished it off!
with only a lil oil fried young pototoes (with the peel) and onions then mashed potatoes and spinache hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm :-D Today will be pasta :-D
I made grilled veggies and veggi burgers for dinner today. For breakfast I had tofu and vrggie stir fry, and for lunch I had some leftover whole-grain pasta with tomato sauce(with chunks of tofu in it). I'm also guilty of having some blueberry cake and SunChips today...
*Disclaimer: I've put on a few pounds as of late, so I'm eating low fat. Yesterday -- Breakfast: Fruit smoothie. Lunch: Baked Falafel in sprouted grain tortilla with low fat raw hummus, cucumbers tomatoes and radish sprouts. Dinner: Split pea soup, mixed green salad, mixed fresh fruit. Today - Breakfast: Fruit smoothie Lunch: Raw lentil salad with ginger, tomatoes and sprouts, mixed green salad, fresh fruit. Dinner: Three bean chili, corn bread, mixed green salad.
a variation of veggies... peas, corn, green beans, carrots, etc... Soy ice cream for the hot weather I made some awesome spaghetti... organic wheat noodles, and tomato marinara, it was to die for. I've pretty much found all the foods that I've always loved, in a vegan form. I munched on a vegan dark chocolate bar for about 3 days... best chocolate I've ever had in MY LIFE. Chocolate was an IMPORTANT thing for me to find vegan, because I'm a woman who gets bitchy without a bit of chocolate every once in a while. Ahh yes, No Chicken Noodle Soup, Vegan Chili, Vegan Black Bean soup, Tofu scrambler... there's so many things I bought on my last grocery trip, I don't know where to begin. I got overly excited... the local food store just got a shipment of all these new products that I've never even SEEN before, and I went bezerko. So far everything I've tried was super delicious.
I also have to say that Amy's makes AMAZING vegan burritos that I'm addicted to. There is the regular vegan burrito which consists mainly of beans and rice, the black bean burrito which has *obviously* black beans, other veggies [like zuchinni and such] and chunks of tofu... and the breakfast burrito that has beans, chunks of tofu and potatoes...YUM. Fuck, Amy's pretty much makes delicious everything. There are also cheese products and stuff for regular veggies. Sorry. I get a little overly excited ... *gives self a sedative* http://www.amys.com/products/index.php
Seeing as it's only 8:30am, I'm having coffee, yogurt, banana & about to go make a peanut butter sandwich
Nature's Path Optimum Slim cereal with rice milk and a banana for breakfast. Mixed fresh herb salad with bell peppers, carrot, celery and radish with rice vinegar for a late morning snack. Homemade vegan baked beans with steamed zucchini and carrots for lunch. Chopped watermelon and honeydew melon for late afternoon snack. Chipotle refried bean and diced sauteed vegetable burritos in sprouted grain tortillas for dinner.
sqwakers, what brand did you find w/o gelatain? Mountain High? as to the actual thread topic: ben ill all week but the meals I have had were good. A Qdoba black bean burrito (2 meals for me) spinaich/sundried tomato pizza (4 meals) brown rice and Idian-spiced parsnips frozen mango pieces frech fries with chipotle mango sauce/ extra spices added lots of orange juice and gatorade. water. gallons of water.
What you asked sqwakers, did you mean yogurt without gelatin? I eat soy yogurt by Silk, that doesnt have gelatin in it and is vegan... do you get Silk products around your area? If so, you should try some, the strawberry banana yogurt is DELICIOUS. I too, am a sucker for Qdobas black bean burritos, though I usually get them *naked* as they call it, because they're so damn big when they wrap it in the tortilla! HUGE. I cant even look at it without being stuffed.
I never even thought of gelatin in yogurt until I came back to this thread....sorry its got "kosher gelatin" in it...whatever that means. Why is gelatin put in yogurt? I'm feeling rather crappy again today...think I'll go take my brown rice & peach & juice and go veg-out in bed with the TV for awhile.
dont quote me, I'm assuming its for *texture* I often wonder what the point of making refried beans with lard is... The vegan refried beans taste the same!
