shame, Bush doesn't fight HIS war nor send HIS kids to fight it. Jeb Bush won't either. I'm 48 and a kid at work turned me on to this group and I like them, they are hard edged but they have things that need saying. With them and the younger generation, there is hope for the world. My generation, generalizing here .. (pun intended) has fucked up the environment, politics and friendship between nations. System of a Down - BYOB Why do they always send the poor? My God is of Bible blood with pointed ears Victorious, victorious steel Can your spending kneel? Marching forward hypocritic And hypnotic computers You depend on our protection Yet you feed us lies from the tablecloth La la la la la la la la la la Everybody is going to the party Have a real good time Dancing in the desert Blowing up the sunshine Kneeling roses Disappearing into Moses' dry mouth Breaking into Fort Knox Stealing our intentions Every city, gripped in oil Crying freedom! Handed to obsoletion Still you feed us lies from the tablecloth la la la la la la la la la la Everybody is going to the party Have a real good time Dancing in the desert Blowing up the sunshine Everybody is going to the party Have a real good time Dancing in the desert Blowing up the sunshine Blast off, it's party time And we all live in a fascist nation Blast off, it's party time And where the fuck are you? Where the fuck are you? Where the fuck are you? Why don't presidents fight the war? Why do they always send the poor? Why don't presidents fight the war? Why do they always send the poor? Why do they always send the poor? Why do they always send the poor? Why do they always send the poor? Kneeling roses Disappearing into Moses' dry mouth Breaking into Fort Knox Stealing our intentions Every city, gripped in oil Crying freedom! Handed to a obsoletion Still you feed us lies from the tablecloth la la la la la la la la la la Everybody is going to the party Have a real good time Dancing in the desert Blowing up the sunshine Everybody is going to the party Have a real good time Dancing in the desert Blowing up the sun Where the fuck are you? Where the fuck are you? Why don't presidents fight the war? Why do they always send the poor? Why don't presidents fight the war? Why do they always send the poor? Why do they always send the poor? Why do they always send the poor? Why do they always send the poor? Why do they always send the poor? Why do they always send the poor? They always send the poor! They always send the poor!
I have the song, and the video... this song is one of the best songs I have heard in years.... and I'm a 21 yr old jazz/blues listener.... This is like Otis Taylor for the youth of America..... Powerfully realisitc, and brutally-unapologetically honest. I honestly hope that more people will have the open mind that you have towards this group, and especially the meaning of this one song in particular. You get a gold star for the day, and a well earned pat on the back for realizing the current state of what is supposedly still a Union. Something's telling me that will become more and more questionable... I don't know why though.... We'll see though, won't we?
thank you for the cool and kind words. I do try to keep an open mind and listen to young people because they aren't limited by the "box" and have fresh idea and different perspectives on things. I listen to all kinds of music, from country to classical to alternative to rock and even some rap. I live by the philosophy that youth doesn't mean inexperienced and age doesn't mean knowledged. That is why I am open to new points of view and I listen to the music of today, such as System of a Down and Linkin Park, just to name two to get an inkling of what is on the minds of youth. Some of todays musicians are todays version of the 60's anti-establishment musicians and movement, but my generation for the most part don't see it that way. "We" are like our parents were in the 60's, thinking we have all the answers and kids just think they know it all. I just hope y'all (youth) are able to straighten out the mess we've (bush's generation) made of things peace out blackdog, bob
Slutter, what are you gonna DO about it? You whine about free speech, so like are you gonna send your little brother after us or something? Or your mom?
I love that song And pretty much everything SOAD... I love how it SEEMS like their songs are just nonsense, but if you read the words and stuff, they've got a great message..
During the Vietnam War, the NVA and VC propaganda voices urged US pilots to suck up the expensive training, but then evade duty when it came time to start flying missions. Bush did precisely that. I'm not suggesting he took his marching orders from Hanoi (the punk-ass little rich drunk fuck didn't take orders from anyone), only that he took the easy way out, which just happened to be what the Hanoi government requested of him. So, by his party's definition, at least, he did serve in the war- on the other side. Yup, G-Dub, Vietnam Vet.
It's Bush that tries to have it both ways- sending people to die in a war, while considering himself to be too good to serve in combat.
I'm sorry, but can you just explain to me how the US wouldn't function if Bush left? Cause I'm seriously curious to this...
i thought the new SOAD cd would be like all other bands, i thought theyd have sold out, but man its now my most listened to cd. people i know are trying ot tell me that theyre new song is 'pop', and okay they listen to all these new 'metal' bands that all sound the sam, and reslly say nothing, have no message. i admire SOAD because of their meaning and messages tehy give us teens through their music. they have something to sing and scream about....and not just how much they hate themselves and the whole world, lol
Yeah, but (and I know that I'm jsut a stupid fourteen year old), it doesn't seem like he's been doing much that's for the good of us lately. SOAD is cool. I haven't heard any of the new cd though. I just wish I could understand what they're saying. Sure, the lyrics are awesome, but what's the point if the average person can't understand them? It's not like everybody is going to take the time to look up their lyrics.
Which is to uphold the constitution on behalf of the American people. yes, wonderful job thus far. Perhaps a little KY lube (scented) for the public but not much more. But of course it's ok to show up in a fighter jet and do photo ops with plastic turkeys. btw.... advertising does cause me therapy but I can't afford it, I'll just get another pizza pie an be happy.
I have the new SOAD cd and its awesome just like their last cd's they have always tried to get the message out, but if you liked them you should llisten to a group called Anti-Flag. If you liked BYOB then you'll like this it's called Protest Song by Anti-Flag And so the time has finally come! The bourgeoisie has signed the war decree with proletariat blood! And that blood which flows from their pen Is the closest that they've ever been to the people! You've been to our shows! You've sung our songs! Now we're asking you to add to each chorus you've sung and... Protest!... Against!... Injustice!... State terror!... On the streets of the world for the disempowered! You've sung at our shows, Cheered right over wrong. Now it's time to hit the streets, Back up those words you've sung! Because our voices alone this time will not get it done... Looking to stop a rogue regime? Well the first one that we must confront is Washington, D.C.! The Bush "terror war:" unconstitutional, unconscionable! We refuse to let him kill, in our name, for oil! We know their game, Know they're corrupt! It's up to us to hit the streets -- time to take our rights back! Protest!... Against!... Injustice!... State terror!... On the streets of the world for the disempowered! You've sung at our shows, Cheered right over wrong! Now it's time to hit the streets, Back up those words you've sung! Because our voices alone this time will not get it done... Because the people, united will get it done! Protest!... Against!... Injustice!... State terror!... On the streets of the world for the disempowered! Protest!... Against!... Injustice!... State terror!... On the streets of the world for the disempowered! Protest!... Against!... Injustice!... State terror!... On the streets of the world for the disempowered! Protest!... Against!... Injustice!... State terror!... On the streets of the world for the disempowered!
comparing soad to anti-flag.. oh god soad- awesome band that have been hitting the issues on the head from their first album on anti-flag- stereotypical anti-government, pro-anarchy punk band.. Slutter McGees on to it.. and anyone who thinks a president going to war is a good idea is just brainless.
