i have no cats, but i heard that they will go across cities to get to a place they love or were at before. How far will they really go?
Well i used to have a black cat and one day right before halloween she came up missing. I assumed that some assholes picked her up to sacrafice her for halloween or something. She was gone for a good 9 months and suddenly she returned on the doorstep. She wasnt super skinny or anything but she always acted very strange after that. She wasnt as friendly anymore. I dont know what happened to her but wherever she was, she found her way home 9 months later. So I assume she had to go a really long way.
I always wondered that...I was thinking of putting a camera on my cat's head but then realized that cameras sort of weigh a lot...
I have neighbors who own a cat who traveled for 500 miles to go back to the old house (after they moved). The cat was very skinny when he arrived there (the old neighbors found him), but still healthy! It's amazing... Cats are incredible creatures.
Yeah. They are. I've known cats to REMEMBER where the FOOD is. Even remember who is friendly, or not. They go pretty much where thier attention span leads them. Distance? Not even a factor. They can be quite resourceful at finding food too.
When i lived in Norfolk I had a cat...Lahr, and we moved about 3 miles away from where we had lived for about 3 years. Where we moved to was actually very close if you looked down from a plane but was a round about way to walk, involving an intersection called 5 points.....crazy...horrible massive intersection it also was on the other side of a piece of interstate with a catwalk over it... Lahr kept going back to our old place and our neighbor would call us to come get him...then one day it all....stopped. I guess Lahr went to that great big catwalk in the sky....I should have kept him in I guess but he loved the outdoors and was a free spirit. Coolest cat i ever had.....
