What are you talking about music isn't art anymore? Just because the garbage promoted by big media preying upon the ignorance of niave people gets the most exposure doesen't mean there isn't another world consisting of talent and quality out there.

If you guys want to check out something exceptional might I suggest Roswell Rudds MALIcool?

Screw the ignorant shit on the radio! It's not worth the time of thinking people.

The music industry is a business just like any other. They want to make money and they cater to the general public. What you hear on the radio is probably what most people enjoy.
Don't rely on the TV/radio to hear music. There are thousands of great bands out there making music. Find the ones you like and support them. These forums are a great start...ask what other people are listening to,in the genre you like...or search online, read reviews, buy compilation CD's from small record companies. There are tons of ways to find new music.

man there's a bunch of bullshit in here. i'm glad that you think your opinion of music is somehow more important than everyone else's, and that you know what music "should be". thanks for perpetuating the stereotype, you fucking tool.

Whoa, who put ther pole up your arse? People are just giving their opinion, why you're taking so personally is beyond me. Chill out mate.

Simple, to me music is a necessity in this world. I can't go days without it. I love to sit on my own and listen to all types (not really jazz and blues) and relax :)

i'm not taking it personally, i'm just giving my opinion, in reference to what the threadstarter originally said. it's just ridiculously arrogant and narrowminded, and that's all i'm trying to say.

I am not arrogant or narrowminded. In fact, people are constantly telling me to stop being so open minded, i should conform more. LIKE HELL

I gave my opinion, if you see it as arrogant that's your problem. Your opinions about me mean nothing.

are you the threadstarter? perhaps you need to read more carefully, or learn to read, or whatever. i was obviously NOT referring to you.

Your post came after mine. Anyway, i think being a criminal psychology and forensic science double major, means i can spell quite well enough.

neither of those majors are in anyway related to linguistics, but i'm glad you're comfortable enough to flaunt them unnecessarily. it did come after yours, and was in response to yours, but if you'd actually read it, you might realize that my intention was to point out that my original post was directed at the threadstarter.

so maybe you can use that forensic science major to dissect the meaning of my post, because somehow it is relevant to understanding what i was saying.

whoa whoa, i'm the thread starter. you gotta chill out, man. I was just saying that i don't like how the big record producers are just looking for people who look good and have no talent, that's all. I didn't mean to offend you. Groovy? Far out.

actually, music is better now than it ever has been. back in the "oh-so-glorious" 60s ( ), there were a handful of bands who were actually making new music and being creative and inventive in their art, and more so than not there were bands taking those new ideas and copying them (psychedelia, anyone?). nowadays there's every kind of genre imaginable, and i could name you atleast a hundred bands who are making great music right now and sound better than anyone ever has.

stop calling yourself a hippie, you sound like a fool.

People don't realize that you can't live life dreaming about how it used to be, you can only dream of changing what is wrong now to something slightly bareable and work from there... :p

it's ridiculous to think that you know what music "should be", and it's pointless to try to bring back something that's gone. music has evolved, move with it.

hey man screw you, i'm just trying to emulate something that has touched me in my soul and changed my life, and that was mudic from the 60's and 70's. Not 80's, 90's, or music from the present day. There's just not any bands that turn me on anymore. So just think about someone other than yourself for once, you fuckin' hypocrite.
