got called a dirty hippy today

    Today marks the first day I've ever been called "dirty hippy." This did not leave me in a particularly good mood, and I snapped at the dude who said it. By the end of the afternoon, he compromised and started calling me "hippy chick." I'm still not happy about this new turn of events though....why do people have to attach labels to everyone?

    people attach labels to others in order to categorise common ground.. certain things systematically need to fit in places to the logical mind. people are stupid, and hate difference. are scared of what they cannot confront....
    they think they know who you are through your exterior identity....nothing u do can be individual, cept think for yourself and make ur own descisions, the rest is basically superficial and fits into the material world....i dunno, why are u asking these questions when u probably know ur own answers? and there are millions of them...

    by the sounds of it, ur more happy with the comment then disturbed...

    I guess it cracked me up the first time the dude said it....but after a couple of times it got a bit old and started to piss me off. I think it had something to do with the fact that I was wearing a sarong and the guy liked the sound of 'dirty hippy'....because I'm not even remotely dirty. oh well.....

    depends on where in kansas you are.... if you are out in western kansas, they are just stupid rednecks..... most of the time when people call me a hippie or dirty hippie they are not serious, or mean it lightheartedly.... I live in northeast kansas.

    If she's wearing a sarong - and she's not at the beach - then she's certainly stupid. I'm sure she is just playing hippy this week, last week she was probably goth.
