Very cool, I would love to go there... I'v always been interested in decay/abandoned places. That first pic is really pretty, I like the whole ugly/beauty thing.
wow, that's cool! it'd be cooler if it wasnt spraypainted everywhere, but so would a lot of things. have you found anything neat and old there? I think I'd be too scared to go in!
there was a fire, so everything was pretty much burnt. A monk killed himself and several patients about 20 years ago. When we went to an old mental institution by him, we found lots of patient's records.. very very cool
It's called St. Augustine's Monastary and it's In Staten Island, NY (the most haunted part of NY!) heh. Im currently living here(in SI) w/ my parents until my aparentment in Purchase is good to go. Here are some more pics..
Very very cool. You know, I've always fantasized about exploring an old hospital. Old abandoned buildings at all give me the heebie jeebies but in a good way. There's a few old hospitals an hour away that I wish I could get into. Especially the Catholic one, it's beautiful. I also would like to explore old defunct abandoned amusement parks. There's just something fascinating about abandoned things.
There's one nearby here - or so I've heard. I want to go SO bad. It seems really cool. Today I visited what was left of a mansion out in the middle of this patch of land. The story goes (and supposedly is true - heard it from a lot of people [respectable people even]) that it was a meeting place for a large satanic order before our city was developed the way it is now. Supposedly they preferomed masses here. It was cool to see it all. (The house had been torn down years ago - but there was still stuff there) I had a good time going through the suitcases and everything else.
We have some old WWII bunkers over on the island I grew up on and those were always fun to go and run around in. Just incredible, two-three stories tall, completely abandoned. It's cool to wander around and visualize where everything used to be. In fact, there's supposedly tunnels that go all along the 14 mile stretch of the island that links all the bunkers together, but I've yet to find them. Supposedly the government blew most of them up after the war, but who knows how much is urban legend and how much is true. I do know that I've wandered for hours in the things and never seen the same thing twice.
Beautiful photos. wish I could go explore them. Someone once told me I was gonna' fall while in/near Ruins... heh... I remember those Too. I use to go to Fort Casey a lot when I was younger. Ever go in the tunnels that just go way back into the hill? Can't see nuthin in those things.
The bunkers I'm referring to are on Bainbridge Island, but you're right, we're not lacking on abandoned forts in our area! Haven't been to Fort Casey, but Fort Ward, Fort Warden, etc. are the usual stomping grounds. I'll post some pics for everyone.
