alright, so, the key elements of a good party are food, drinks, people, and music (to be vague) but the one problem with my party is the music. Don't get me wrong, I have a ton of cd's and I am told I have good taste in music, but I don't have that much to dance to. If you can give me some good songs you like to dance to it would do me good. peace, love, and music.
Well first off you need to tell us what kind of music you have in your cd collection..... secondly...I think that you can dance to just about anythign that has a good beat... heck, I dance to anything from Dazed and Confused to something like Smoke on the Water.... Remember jsut how people did it in the 60s and 70s... You shouldnt have to go and change your taste in music "just becuase you dont think you can dance to it", Just try dancing ANY way possible. becuase it IS possible! Just jump around if you dont really know what to do! BUT if you do need something, try Zeppelin or Deep Purple...some of their Up- Beat stuff. They both have great tunes. Also try Janis Joplin... and Clapton....it all depends on what type of music you listen to...But if this is the type of music that you're into, then thats what I recommend! Good Luck!!
well, I have a lot of different cd's in my collection, and I'm not trying to "change" my taste in music because I can't dance to it. I listen to things from Ani Difranco to Def Lepard to Blink 182, so I'd say I have a pretty wide variety of taste in music. I'm just having a lot of different "types" of people at my party you can say (I get along with everyone) and I just want everyone to have a good time and listen to something they want. I know that I'll have fun though
shit, that isn't dance music. and if your tastes are as eclectic as you claim, that narrow range of classic rock suggested will only serve to perpetuate stereotypes about simpleton hippies who only listen to same old tired shit. not that it's bad, but come on, this seems like the kind of occasion where you need to be getting the funk out, or some techno. thievery corporation is a personal favorite of mine, and sly and the family stone is a good choice to get the kiddie's groovin'. also... kool and the gang ohio players EWF con funk shun war republic of loose (more rock oriented) modern stuff like outkast, gorillaz, paul oakenfold will also appeal to those who can't dig anything they haven't heard on mainstream radio. this list is mosty funk with little techno, now that i look at it...oh well.
lol, we tend to go for the classic hits type of dance music - y'know, shitty, old or cheesy songs that are just so funny to groove to and to have drunken sing-a-longs to, like early 90s hits and the like. \ red red wine by UB40 is an eg of that, so is turn around (bright eyes) by bonnie tyler, the joker by steve miller band, james brown's play that funky music, blame it on the boogie by the jackson 5. but it does help to be a little pissed (as in had a few drinks, not as in angry) to get the most out of it.
Try Tower of Power Spearhead (conscious hip hop..even this ol'fart loved it live) Signal Path or Sound Tribe Sector 9 (STS9 on here, usually) for that ambient rave-esqe vibe Papa Mali for southern swamp boogie Soul Rebels: another New Orleans band but in the second line tradition (thing Rebirth or Dirty Dozen Brass bands)
Depending on your mood. Zydeco (ie: Clifton Chenier, Buckwheat Zydeco, Sonny Landreth, Doug Kershaw) generally gets me going.
oh absolutely...but my flatmate has it on a cd as sung by the brown, it's the only version we have, so that's the one we usually get the groove on to.
