Jim Morrison WAS the American Poet, he wrote songs from deep down inside him Mabe it was the Drugs that helped him write the lyrics, but he had it inside him anyway, As the bands name sugests, the drugs opened doors of perception in his head to write them total amazing songs & lyrics. Jim was the god of music in the 60's who else could have influenced Andy warhole & The velvet underground !!! 2 other great icons of the 60's As to Jim being a total fake & not the American Poet as he is seen to be try opening your ears & listening to his music & his lyrics, then come back & say he's shit
I'm not saying he's shit by all means but as far as the american poet goes... what about Bob Dylan? He was around way before the Doors even thought about making music. Jim Morrison is a good poet, but he's not the best thing out of the 60's. I was also asked by someone Why am I here? (on this thread) I just wanna express my thoughts and opinions like everyone else. I love the music of the the 60's and 70's and all the classic rock genra's I'm just saying why argue about stuff you weren't even around. The times were different, the world has changed, and we should all be so lucky that we have the right to say what we want on forums such as this. Some places aren't as lucky as us. So when I say there's more important things like people dying, I sugguest you take a little more consideration for them instead of fussing about if Jim Morrison is a Poet God!-
how many times must this thread be brought back... it is like the reincarnation of the reincarnation of the reincarnation of some ancient doors thread...let it fucking die... and poet god my ass... the american poet? alan ginsberg? poe? no, jim morrison was the american poet... hardy har har...
it's true, soulrebel or whatever really seems to just be a huge fucking trendwhore, from what i've seen here.
Hey I just joined up but i have to say... I LOVE THE DOORS!!!! Okay, so Jim probably wasnt the american poet, but i enjoy his lyrics.. But the other members of the band don't get enough credit, I love Ray Manzarek...he's an absolute legend... Krieger was fabulous and Densmore pretty good too....
I think everyone in the little argument here should remember that its all opinion and none of us have any real authority on deciding what is good music or not.
