we have beed feed bull and lies our whole lives. Pushed away to daycare and lived off fast food and TV. We are told lies at school by our teaches, at home by our parents, on TV by the media, and the biggest lies by our government. We are told that you must be like everyone else and strive to be rich and cold. We are told that you must be busy all the time and grow up fast to make money. I have heard that they make you take mental tests to see if there is anything wrong with you and i mean ANYTHING and then they mark you.Thats what your mark will be your whole life. so they can mold you to be perfect, like everyone else.

Perhaps you misunderstood? Where did she say "none of this bothered me until I followed the hippie trend"? Because I'm looking, and it's just not there. You can't just assume these things.

    Hmmm...sure buddy.

Day Care is a good thing in a way though. It helps build your immune system.

Not everyone is currently raised this way and told these things to. In fact, a lot of young people experience a much different lifestyle.

By the way how can you tell they are lies if everyone is telling them to you? I mean, where have you heard differently, that they were lies? How do you know they are lies?

Who is "they" and where did you hear this? It was probably a lie just like everything else everyone else tells you.

    Well said Moon Water.
It was President Reagan & Margaret Thatcher that began this Western World 'Orgy of Capitalism'.
It was in response to the stagflation & over-manning of the 1970s which I remember well.
Pre-1980 the Western World wasn't so deeply obsessed & intrenched in 'super-capitalism' as it is now.
Younger generations are eluded into thinking "Life has always been like this" by the media etc.
In Britain:- before Margaret Thatcher came along ;- you didn't have large numbers of young people -sleeping & begging on the streets of London as is commonplace now.Even American tourists coming to our capital now, can't help but notice them.
In the 1970s - Unions were excessive & downright greedy.Inflation couldn't be managed by Keynesian economics anymore- it seemed ;so 'Monetarism' was introduced.
The 'Anger' of the disillusioned young street-fighters, (N.F. vs The Anti-Nazi League & Punks vs Teds in the Kings Road) coupled with the 'Winter of Discontent' led to a national feeling that all this was destroying the fabric of socialist governed society; hence Mrs. Thatcher was elected in May 1979 - & Britain was completely changed once & for all.
We are all richer in general terms. In Britain - Home-ownership is at it's highest level but:
In a kind of abstract way ; I think we were Happier before all this super-capitalism took over our lives.
If we were happier pre-1980: - What is the point of making everyone rich & encouraging greed & over -consumption?.
People were rapturously happy in the years 1945-1975 (again in generalised terms).Even Text-Books will confirm this. The major industries were all in the public sector but 'super-capitalism' did not need to exist in order for people to feel 'enriched'.

Each generation has their obstacles to overcome. Day care became an evil necessity with the onslaught of single parent families and the need for two paychecks where one used to suffice.
There has always been huge bullshit through media and the government but at least these days its much harder for them to get away with it for any length of time.
Each family chooses to teach different things. In mine I prefered to teach free thinking not whatever was trendy. I prefered to try to instill the virtues than the chase of the almighty dollar. I think I raised honorable group a kids all in all, with a great sense of family.

they once taught that blacks were 3/5 human, and that it was the new Americans right to displace and kill all of the indians until they reached the pacific ocean.

My parents generation are more brainwashed about America being the best place than most of the younger generations are....

in the schools they are having children and teens take mental test to see if anything is wrong with you and then mark it. I know this is happening because my younger cousins have had these tests done.
I know not ALL kids are raised this way in America but the most are, just look around. I know they tell lies just by looking. When i was in public school they taught things as if they were facts but turned out just to be opinions. An example. They said that all humans came over the bridge from asia to alaska. Good idea but not fact. i could go on forever.

Science suppositions change constantly. They are based only on "educated" guesses. Due to christian beliefs they wouldn't teach alot of things when I was growing up. Evolution was a huuuge nono back when I was in school.

The most important thing a person can do is to think for themselves, and live their own lives. Just think beyond the lifestyle that is seen as the norm and be true to oneself ;) .

If these "lies" are so easily distinguished as "lies" than why do they really matter? And, for the people who see through the lies and teach their children the "thruths" as they see them why do the lies matter? It may be difficult to distinguish between "lies" and "different opinions". As far as teachers are concerned, they are just humans. Their words are not to be taken as though they come from "gods". Many teachers have some pretty warped senses and opinions of things. That is why it is so important for parents to take an active part in their child's education and interacting with them and the schools/teachers to be informed what their children are being taught.

This just doesn't make any sense. Any minimally sensible parent can rationalize that that doesn't make any sense. "all humans"? or all native americans. It may still be quite true that all native americans originated from peoples who migrated across the land bridge. This is not a "lie" simply an opinion based on scientific observation/evidence.

Lets try not to be overly cynical here! If you believe that everything you here are lies it will be difficult for you to accept, learn and trust anthing or anyone. Who/what do you trust besides yourself? If you base all of your "truths" only from your real world experiences you would have a very narrow basis for knowledge.

Sometimes (often) school children misinterpret things (words) that are taught to them by the teachers. This should not be a valid bases for judging them as "liars"! It is amazing some of the images and beliefs that I have seen school aged people come up with based on misinterpretations.

Everyones brainwashed from the moment they're dressed up like a rabbit for their first easter.

More of us have become liberated from group think then any other generation...

Did you actually mention fast food? WHat does that have to do with anything? If theres any kind of prevelant group thinking that needs to be stopped its blaing arbitrary things for societys problems, like second hand smoke and fast food.

People should smoke and eat whatever they want. And it should be marketed to them to by slick talking frogs or whatever the hell they've come up with to cram a double meat sandwhich down our throats.

If the only problems you can come up with for our generation are we're overmedicated and we're advertised to too much, then we're doing well.

I grew up in West Texas, and I only met a handful of (at least openly) racist people in my highschool class. There we're a lot more interracial couples then there we're open racists in my highschool class. And it wasn't like that in Ohio in the 50's.

Of course everyone our age isn't very political... its only after retirment that a large portion of a generation starts voting.

I dunno abut you, but I'm doing great. [IMG]
