I hate to say this, but the word ****** is either racist or it isn't.

Just because you're black doesn't change what the word means, even if you say Nigga instead, it's still the same word. It's a term that either everyone can use or no one. Make up your minds.

ok. first of all I am not black, so I am not speaking for black people.

I am however supporting the fact that black call there people nigga from time to time
I work with a bunch of em at my job and its no big deal. The relationship between the word ******
    and anti-black prejudice is symbiotic.

What I mean by that is that they are interrelated and interconnected, yet, ironically, not automatically interdependent. In other words, a racist society created ****** and continues to feed and sustain it; however, the word no longer needs racism, at least brutal and obvious forms, to exist.

****** now has a life of its own.
Sometimes when black friends come in for me to fix their laptops they say "zup nigga", and my usual
reply is "hey what's up man".
I know Richard Pryor was one of the many fisrt black people to call another a ****** in public (in his live shows).

I guess as a white person I dont have issues with this. You learn to accept ones culture. Because of the fact that the white americans created this word (which interesting enough, the word "niger" in latin simply means black) it was burnt into our society.

One example that definetely isnt that comparable is the term yankee. yankee is an insult - it came from the dutch word "Janke" which means "little Jan" - or in english name terms, "little john".

But WTF? we won a war while proudly calling ourselves yankees, made our little national song "yankee doodle" during the american revolution before francis scott key made the anthem. But one was easily offended to be called a yankee - from the english.

Do you understand what I am saying by all of this? if no, thats ok too. I am just saying that you need to accept the way culture has been molded.

Like i said, I am not black so i am not speaking for all blacks, and i am not claiming to completely understand why they say the word ****** - I am claiming that i just try to understand, and by understanding the reason why it still exists, respect it.
