Several new planets have been discovered in the past couple of centuries, and presumably they all have some kind of astrological effect. What happened to astrology when they were discovered? Did astrologers change their technique to use the new planets? Did they suddenly realize why certain things didn't work properly? Presumably astrology has become much more accurate with each new discovery?
Presumably astrology has become much more accurate with each new discovery?[/QUOTE] Exactly Jim. Which is why i always say astronomy and astrology can work together. Astrologers didnt "change their techniques" though...why would they have to? And what kind of changes do you mean? The only difference is, now we take into account the effects of the newly found planets aswell. -Maxi.Xx
That depends on the astrologer. Since astrology isn't given any credence by the scientific community at large, there isn't really a viable astrological institution to say exactly "what happened to astrology" when they were discovered. Some may have. It's hard to say. Who are they? Astrology is such that pretty much anyone who takes an active interest can call themselves an astrologer. I am a believer, so therefore I am an astrologer. I didn't realize that anything didn't work properly, because our solar system was already adequate in its symbolism to be used as a tool of self-discovery for me. Not if you don't take those planets into account, obviously. When you're given an infinite number of celestial bodies, it is kind of futile to attempt to use each one to describe a person's character traits.
Though if you're talking about its accuracy in predicting the future, I don't think you'll have much luck using astrology to do that. You'd probably have as much accuracy just randomly saying something bad or good will happen every day.
So you're saying that these new planets have relatively minor effects? I.e. the further away the planet is, the less effect it has on us?
Definitely not. That would mean that all aquarian, piscean or scorpion influences would be somehow diluted, and thats certainly not the case. The outer planets effects are a lot more gradual though, because obviously those planets move a lot more slowly. And so these planets affect the major world changes, which happen more slowly, and personal major milestones in our lives. But no, certainly the energy coming from these planets is NOT weakened because of distance. These forces are a LOT stronger than THAT. Xx
Hmmm. So the force from some planet a million light years away has the same potential impact on world events as the ones we talk about? Wow. So, do bigger planets have more effect? Can something as small as a comet have an effect?
Why would a bigger planet have more effect? The forces were talkin about have nothin to do with size. The planets themselves are just the physical manifestation of forces we cannot see. Thats like sayin the bigger bodied person will have a more powerful soul. Love-Maxi.Xx
im not a large follower of astrology, but when i question myself i would agree with verseau_miracle the most. the reason behind the forces in this universe is still an unsolved mystery, no theories have been proven. but as an open person i can understand the interaction with the forces and everything around us. no size matters when it comes to potential impact. May be off question, but what are some of your opinions about the imfamous butterfly effect? (dont say, "the movie sucked" )
So, how did the ancient astrologers arive at these methods? Presumably they sat down and plotted the paths of the bodies they could see, then worked out (somehow!) how these paths could be related to the real world. Did they do experiments? I guess they must have. Anyone recommend a book that would cover this area?
