i like the 71 version better. it's probably because i didn't see the new one yet. the old Willy Wonka was nicer and didn't look like he molested little boys behind dumpsters in back alleys. of course, if you combined the two groups, the old Wonka or the '71 version the grandfather would be the ones that would be most likely to have molested a child in their lifetimes. they are older men who are around children a lot. look in the '71 picture at the grandpa grabbing charlie. that is further proof.

Oh, that's a cool comparison. But there are 11 people in the '71 pic and 10 people in the '05 pic. Who's missing- wait!!! I know!

The '71 version was way better. Don't get me wrong I love Johnny Depp as he is beautiful but he came off as a total fucking weirdo. Gene Wilder had better comic timing too.

I agree the 1971 version was much better. Nothing can top gene wilder as willy wonka.. Gene Wilder was definatly a great actor of his time. But for a remake movie, this was definatley done well i think. Johnny Depps charachter of willy wonka did come off a bit odd but that is tim burton for ya, odd. Tim Burton always makes great movies and if any other director had remade this movie it would have flopped.

I'm going to see that movie later this week. I think the fact that I was 34 years younger when I saw the 1971 version will have to have an effect on my opinion of the two films.

Few remakes are ever better than the original one but they figure they could make a few bucks since family type movies for kids are few each year.
