My sewing machine is bust! I've nearly finished making my first apron top too. AND... I've just won some really funky patterns from ebay. Grrr! I really can't tell what is wrong, the needle seems to be getting stuck in the mechanism thingy below. I can't explain it but something seems to be hitting the needle when it feeds through, two have snapped already! Guess I'll have to call the fixer bloke, my mother bought it from him for my birthday a few years back, it's secondhand and must be at least twenty years old but I love the thing! Oh I feel like crying!!!
Try taking out the bobbin and the mechanism that the bobbin sits in... there are usually two leavers or switches that hols a metal plate in, http://www.hsarmor.com/images/lr_c_bobbin_paper_brake_position.jpg <---- this metal plate comes out usually (not if you have a drop in bobbin thought) and clean under there.. my machine does that too and its normally something stuck under the bobbin holder (not the bobbin case)
Faerie! - I could kiss you!! She's working again! It took me five minutes to finish my apron top and I'm very very happy! I can't tell you how chuffed I am, even though I'm very much a beginner at sewing, I can actually wear what I've made... hee hee hee!
Thanks Lostcove, going to change it a little though - remove the bottom hoops. Ugh my face looks so goofy!
