The vast majority of handmade, ecofriendly, hemp, etc. clothes are geared toward ladies. This is frustrating to me. Can anyone suggest sources for mens clothing that offers more than just the ubiquitous and cliched "patchwork pant" for men? I'm just curious, not on a hardcore mission to equip myself with the latest "hippie" styles, but would like to know of sources when/if I get the urge to by non-corporate textiles :H
hi i'm a woman so it doesn't really effect me! but i have noticed that, must be really annoying! nomads clothing do a few mens tops - www.nomadsclothing.co.uk if i find ny other websites i'll let you know hope that helps peace and love issy
I shop for my garments from OUT OF THE CLOSET second hand stores. My pants and shirts are either cotton, cords or denim. Shirts are only cotton or linen. When I had money I used to go to fabric stores and have a seamstress run up my shirts and pants. It cost more but I got exactly what I wanted all the time http://www.devalifewear.com/ http://www.grassrootsnaturalgoods.com/men/sub-bottom.html http://directory.google.com/Top/Shopping/Clothing/Natural_Fiber/Hemp/ http://www.happyhippie.com/directory/clothing.htm
that really makes me feel left out because most of te hippie clothing is geared toward women and there is bearly anything for men and it kinda makes me a little left out and feel bummed
If you like homemade clothes, you could consider making them yourself. Long as you don't forget what gender you are, you're set.
I sew and I admit, everything I make is for women. I want to make men's clothes though, but I have no idea what to make other than the patchy pants or side panel pants. So,I'm really open to ideas for men's clothes...tell us what you would wear or if there are specific ideas in your mind...I would love to hear it
Thanks everyone! Well, I'm not really in to the cliche "hippie" clothes or fasion statements such as the patchwork stuff that has become very popular (among hippies). I was just talking about if men choose the option to want to buy non-corporate, environmentally friendly clothes there doesn't seem to be as many options as there are for females. Personally, I just like comfortable clothes that are functional and hold up well to a lot of use. But I have, in the past rarely looked past the "corporate" manufacturers. But lately I have been exploring alternative options. I tend to like cottons, linnens, and wools. I do like earth tones, and many of the patterns (ethnic, cultural, tribal) that might be considered "hippie" styles.
Also , there are a number of people here at the forums who are more then capable of making you some clothes. Check out Phunkyphreshmama, i recently purchased some patchwork shorts she made. I love em.
