So, I just left the site yesterday. Less than two dozen people left on site, I think. Clean-up is going well, but there aren't enough people left. LOCAL FAMILY, PLEASE GO THERE FOR A DAY OR 3 AND HELP OUT. AND BRING HERB. Most of you have probably already noticed, but the Ithica gathering is blowing up. A lot of kids headed there straight from nationals, and I don't think that the local family is ready for them. The main problem with the site in Ithica is that they have to truck in water, so clean-up at nationals is trying to arrange to get one of those huge water cubes up there with a trailer for water runs. We'll see. So I'm going to Baltimore for a week, and then back to New Jersey. I had a wonderfull time out in the woods, and learned a lot. I generaly ate well, had enough sleep, and didn't get any major diseases. So I'm not sure that I really went to a Rainbow Gathering. But I think I did.
Relax, Mountain Poet. As far as I can tell, the online rumors are always worse than the reality on site. So many people get intimidated or confused by the fear that for some reason easily spreads online. So relax. Go to Ithica and have a great time, if that's what you want to do. All the same, since the Ithica family didn't call for a gathering until mid August, things are probably even more disorganised there than usual. If you have experience keeping people from killing each other, or patching people up after they try, or feeding lots of people, you're probably needed and should go right now. Me, I've got to spend some time dealing with court and harvesting tomatoes.
