I know I've seen threads in here about wrap around pants, but I couldn't find any. So, would someone mind telling me how to make my own wrap-around pants? I know it's pretty simple but I need to hear how specifically from someone who knows, so I can make sure I know what I'm doing to some degree.

I like the way these look:

And these aren't that bad, but I don't like the close-to-the-ankle part nor the fact that my ass would be visible to all the world with the slightest breeze: http://www.gypsyrose.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=614219

Anyway any help is appreciated. I am leaving for a trip in a week and a half and I'd like to make a couple of pairs before then. :)

    ok il try explain!
you need two pieces of fabric identical in size...the length of the fabric is your desired leg length the width of the fabric is your waist measurement plus ten cms.

across the width of the fabric mark the measurement of half your waist, then mark ten cms on from this point. the remaining width should again be half of your waist measurement ok? make sense?

the ten cms in the centre is for the crotch measurement. i usually put a tape measure on my belly where i like the top of my trousers to sit and then put the tape between my legs and up to the equal point on my back where the trousers would rest. take this measurement (about 25/26cms i reckon) and using your tape measure on its side, create a curve starting when the ten cm width measurement begins and finshing when the ten cm width measurement ends. draw in or pin this curve into the fabric and cut out. your fabric piece will now look like a big rectangle with a squashed semi circle cut out of the top in the centre, ok?!
do this to both pieces of fabric and lay them on top of eachother they should be identical. pin the two pieces together only on the curve of the crotch line and sew.

this is basically your trousers made! all that needs to be done now is to hem every edge and sew four ties onto the four top corners of the trousers.

i hope this makes sense, they really are very simple!

Well I tried. Twice. I'm not sure I like how they turned out. They seem too "open" on the bottom rather than wrapping around my foot when I'm standing still. And the crotch area looks funny... if I don't cut a big enough "u" shape, I look like I have a dick. If I cut a big enough "u" shape to get rid of the dick bump, there's not enough to wrap around my hips and still avoid showing off my ass. What do I do? How do I know how big to make the "u" cut? I know how to make the inseam LONG enough but I am just not sure how "wide" of a "U" to cut, does that make any sense?

Do you mean like, mark in the middle of the width of the fabric and then mark 5 cm away from either side of the center mark? so that there's a total of 10 cm cut out of the top but it's right in the middle? Or do I cut 10 cm out from the middle line so that one side has more fabric than the other?

You can always add strips to the sides so they will wrap further and cover your ass...;)

I have never tried them on, but I did see a girl walking down the street with them on, they blow open pretty easily, showing a lot of leg. They look deceiving in pics of people wearing them while standing still.....:D

thanks Luchi for the instructions :) I want to make a pair of these too...

It'd be nice though (no offense) to find an actual pattern to make...
