My shoulder got pulled out of the socket in a tumble down the stairs.

it is currently back in ,but it is very bruised and I can't move it at all.

It's a huge problem b/c it is my arm that i primarily use and I don't have any health insurance to go to the doctors. I don't think they could do anything anyway.

Please give any advice possible. the pain is unbearable.

hae you put your arm in a sling? i wouldn't want to have the arm havign any mobility right now if it was dislocated.

i'd really advise on seeing a medical professional to check it out to make sure what type of injury you have. just taking pain meds won't fix it. you don't even know if its back in its correct position.

Maybe try to ice it and keep it elevated? I have never dealt with that situation.

Is there maybe some kind of clinic you can go to? I know when I didn't have insurance there was a clinic here in town, called the First Care Clinic I would go to and they would ask for like a $5 donation when you came and they would treat you for free and the prescriptions, if they wrote you one, only cost like $9. It may be worth calling other healthcare providers in your area just to find out if a place like such exists where you live. You may need to bring like a paystub or something to verify your income... but I think even if you think you are ok now to be seen by someone just in case! :) Good luck honey!

If you go to the emergancy room (a public emergancy room) they have to treat you, medical insurance or not. You'll have a bill afterwords, but still you won't be in so much pain. The prescriptions are what you have to pay for up front, and they aren't so cheap but maybe you can ask your emergancy room doctor to give you samples or something. ( I doubt they'll give you samples of pain pills but maybe. )

I'm still in a lot of pain. I've learned how to use my left arm quite well.

Anyway, I haven't gone to the docs yet. I'm not sure if I need to. It hurts so bad if I move it but I've gotten good at learning to not move it. I stole a sling from work and I've been using that.

It doesn't feel like it's out of the socket anymore, but it's still extremely painfull. I can't bring myself to go to the emergency room. I'm already in some credit card debt. It's nothing I can't eventually get out of, but the medical bills would put me over the edge.

why does health insurance have to be so damn expensive?!

I'm not sure where you live or what the law is in your state, but in most places emergency rooms can't legally deny you care because of financial reasons. From what you have described, a visit to the emergency room is definitely justified.

In the US you have to pay no matter what? What if some street person is like dying? Wouldn't the gov't just have to foot the bill? Canada's system has many flaws too, but I would never feel unable to seek care if necessary(due to financial reasons)...I actually feel sorry for the world's richest nation:O

Yeah, but the way to look at it is this -

Do you want to be paying a certain amount now, and have it dealt with

or pay more later because it has to be re-dislocated, re-set, etc? cause it was set wrong? Or have permanent nerve damage because it re-seated wrong and is pinching a blood vessel or important nerve?

shaitan is right, you're much better off getting it treated now, otherwise you are at risk for complications, plus it would make more financial sense to get it treated now.

Yes, in the US you can literally die if you have no money for health treatment/insurance. Please don't make this a political thread.
