    hey kiddies

methinks im gonna get rid of the dreadies. i love em but for some reason i just think i need a change. i like to change my hair too much and dreads aren't really that versatile. i have had them in since march, so about four and a half months. they are pretty well locked up but i have undreaded my hair once before and it was about the same amount of time.

any of ya got some tips? right now i've got my hair slathered in extra strength conditioner with a towel and im just chillin like this for a while. gonna go and get me some infusium in a while, that's what i used last time and it made my hair nice and strong and soft again.

conditioner and hot water. i heard cutting them in half loosens the hair to make dreads thinner if they've grown.

I cut up the middle of mine to save some length. Mine were tight so there was no way I could brush them out if I didn't cut them up the middle. Good luck & be prepared to spend a LONG time getting them out.

hehehehe i had a dream the other night that i merely spritzed a little leave in conditioner on my dreads and they combed out with one fell swoop of the comb LOLOLOLOLOLOL good conditioner, water in a spritz bottle, some unbreakable combs, and some good friends and some movies to watch....you can comb em out. we chopped my roomate's 4 year old dreads up to her jaw and combed em out over an 18 hour time period. good luck!!

Can you wrap 'em? Like, wool wraps? It'd give a bit of change...

I wouldn't ever be able to get dreads because I too am obsessed with changing hair styles. Mostly colors, but styles too. But I suppose if you're taking them out it's best to do so before they're locked in too much.

Cut 'em off and start fresh with short short hair. A friend of mine did that and her short hair looked really cute.

I've had mine scince march aswel, thats nifty except I took mine out last month and they came out in like one or two hours, I was watching TV while I did it. I didn't have to cut out any length, I just soaked it with lots of VO5 condition for and hour and they came out with no pain.

You'd look cute with short hair. Just cut 'em off and dye your hair a funky color or something. The time and pain of combing your dreadies out is probably not worth it. When/if I get rid of mine, hell no am I going through all that trouble. A scissor will do...haha.

well #1 is done... this is gonna take longer than last time!! they are a lot more locked than they were last time.

i've had short hair many times before but it's barely to my chin now and i dont want to loose much legnth.

truth be told, im going on an indefinate break from my boyfriend who i have been living with for 2 years, and i want a big change. but i also want to get back sooner rather than later, and i know he doesn't like short hair as much. as pathetic a reason as that is, i know, that's it. also i like having some hair, pigtails are the greatest. but we'll see how it goes, the scissors might end up making a big appearance!

Get a metal comb, like a comb for a cat or dog, with thick teeth, they won't break or bend with pressure. It took me almost a month to get mine completely out (Didn't have any help and they were long). Also sitting in the shower and lathering up your hair with conditioner and combing it while its in there kind of makes the hair slippery so the knots come out faster. Good luck!

Awww...nah, it's not a pathetic reason. You want to look attractive to your bf...that's not a crime. Good luck with your "break" with him...I hope things resolve themselves. And good luck with your hair! Buy a shitload of conditioner...lol.

hehehehe i remember you saying that this was the final time of dread-getting. and that they are for keeps. Serra, you are one indecisive big sister :p.

I don't think i could get my dreadies out if i tried. my plan is to shave my head (in about 38947289347 years)...isn't that supposed to give you thicker hair?

peace and love and all things good,
    Jasmyn
