I think it is rediculous to even consider smoking anything while you are pregnant. That doesn't even deserve a response. If I wasn't so bothered by the fact that I cannot have children and people like you who care more about themselves can I wouldn't have said anything.

I'm 9 weeks along and on the threshold of morning sickness. my doc said that if I choose to make ganja butter to help with - and only help with- morning sickness that's ok. but I won't smoke it and I won't use it after the nausea starts to become less significant.

I certainly haven't smoked since I took the test, and I wont' make butter until I feel I need it to subside with the sickness.

there are a lot of things that you will need to sacrifice when you have your baby. you should learn to start now.

I am with you hon.. I myself am unable to concieve, it angered me that I cant and someone who is as dumb as this and as selfish can...
I dont mean to sound harsh but come one...why would you even mess with anything like that while you are carrying a child...cant you wait 9 months out of your life, for your own flesh and blood.. I guess not..

btw if you have morning sickness, i heard sucking on peppermints work, thats what my mom did...

oh, I certainly didn't mean I was going to rely on that for morning sickness alone!

I just meant that my doctor knew I used previously, and said the butter can be used as a remedy for the nausea. I hate feeling sick so as long as there is no harm to my little one, I'm going to use any method there is for morning sickness (which seems to be turning into all day sickness as time goes by!)

I will be sure to try peppermints as well!

I believe in mandatory abortion, so I think not only should you smoke as much weed as you want, this is also the time to start using crack & meth.

Merck (which is one of the major pharmaceutical companies) has an article about Drug Use During Pregnancy on their site, covering substances from Diazepam and coffee to heroine. This is what they write about Marijuana:

Marijuana: Whether use of marijuana during pregnancy can harm the fetus is unclear. The main ingredient of marijuana, tetrahydrocannabinol, can cross the placenta and thus may affect the fetus. If marijuana is used heavily during pregnancy, newborns may have behavioral problems.

Click the link to read the whole article.

One thing that really disturbes me is that some people seem to think you can't be a mother and be smoking weed/hash, or that it is irresponsible.
Imo that is a generalisation that is made out of lack of experience.
I for one know and have met several mothers that are pot smokers and they are as loving and caring as one can be. My bf's mom was smoking pot all her life and he turned out to be a wonderful person.
Being a good mom doesn't depend on whether you are smoking pot or not, but on the individual itself.

    :)

    ooh, mine too.

and yeah, if you are continuing with your pregnancy the baby HAS to come first. Morning sickness must suck, but it will be over eventually - if the baby has leaning or other difficulties, they will be with it for life.

I had morning sickness so bad that my body would start to heave when I woke up, before I even could open my eyes. So I slept with my head on towels to catch the first vomit of the day. Then I'd continue to heave and barf until nothing came up, but my body would still heave uncontrollably. My whole abdomen would be sore. And I'd be sick and throwing up all day. I carried plastic grocery bags with me everywhere in case I started heaving again. For about 5 months. A peppermint wouldn't do the trick, folks. One single draw of herb, and it stopped. Once the 'morning sickness' (an understatement, for sure) stopped, I stopped taking that one draw.

I am a former Twelve Tribes of Israel member, so I have seen lots of Rasta women go through their prenancies. Not everyone smoked, but some people did. I never, ever saw babies born with problems as a result.

I am not encouraging people to smoke ganja while they're pregnant. I think a lot really depends on how and why a person does it. People who harshly criticize the woman who asked the question, just for asking, are creating a hostile environment in which pregnant ladies may not feel comfortable asking important questions.

If I were this young lady, I would ask myself some questions, which I did when I found out that I was pregnant. Why do I get red? Why do I feel like I don't want to go without it? Am I just taking a draw now and then to relax and give thanks, or do I jones and obsess about herb?

Maybe this pregnancy is an opportunity for you to be free from weed for a while. When my extreme nausea stopped, I stopped taking that one draw in the morning. I had smoked it for years and I was happy to discover that I could very easily stop. My priorities had changed. While some of my friends seemed to live their whole lives around herb, I realized that I had a lot more than that going on. It was a good feeling.

Good for you for having the courage to ask that question. Good for you for thinking about your baby. You can quit. It's not bad. It can be liberating, in a way, because now your life doesn't revolve around this thing.

    Good luck.
