i was very excited about my first ebay purchase, funkyphresh's ONE LOVE pants... i got them or $11.50 or something...

when i got them in the mail, they were nicely packaged, and she even included a couple postcards! :)

when i took them out though, there was a small rip in the right leg on the outer seam...:( .... my mom stitched them up though, and i wore them out that night... but by the end of the night, the crotch had a huge hole in it and part of the bigger star (i think its called an applique??!) was coming off... :$

i dont know, it just seems like the pants were kinda cheaply made.... but its okay, my mom is going to reinforce all the seams and stuff, so it should work out okay in the end... i like the pants anyways, its not a big problem to me, cause my mom can just fix them up and stuff, but my mom is the one kinda pissed.. lol just cause she has to fix them... i am just kinda disspointed, cause all the stuff that funkyphresh posts on this site looks AWESOME and when i order something, its kinda falling apart and stuff.... just my luck...

i guess i had too high of expectations! but thanks anyways funkyphresh, i really like the pants anyways!

yeah, it's so important to reinforce the seams. i'm surprised that they weren't...i'm really crazy about the idea of a hole forming, so i stitch them about 4 times.

    oh no!
    that sucks... :(
I am so paranoid about that..i serge everything and before my things ship I pull all the seams to make sure they are strong and will hold...
    yer poor ma lol
    good luck with those

coulda been worse..i remember many years ago getting a pair of cordoroy pants..which i didnt really lke anyways.. 1st time i went to pull em on..my foot went right through the cheap material..these wre brand new from like a dept. store (an xmass pressent ..i woulda never bought em) so i go ahead & sew that up, reinforcing the insifde with denim.. i go to try again & the entire other leg ripped right off
at that point i was pissed even though i really hated these pants.. so i literaly pulled then apart with my bare hands.. stuck the shredded peices in an envelope & mailed them back to the store.

That's awful. It may not have been FunkyPhresh's fault. Sometimes, fabric is crappy or even thread. I've seriously bought brand new fabric that appeared to be dry rotting once I started working with it,it would tear so easily. Same with thread, some brands just snap or ravel away.

Haha...I'm sorry that happened but it's kinda funny. Not only the thoughts of the whole leg ripping off,but also that you actually mailed it back to them. Can you imagine what they thought when they opened the envelope? :D

did you talk to Phunky phresh BEFORE posting this? or are you calling her the crafter equivalent of a bad trader?
Public rants damage reputations. I think she'd make it right.

peacelovebarefeet, I think you really should have talked to FunkyPhresh before saying something like this here. There is no need to discredit someone like this in public, even though I don't think it was your intention to do this.

I would even go so far, that you ask a mod to delete this thread, and that you go over this problem with FunkyPhresh. You did a business with her in a non-related site, it was a private trade between you and Funky. So it is very impolite of you to post this matter in a Public way. It not fair, if just because of this post, no body of this site will buy her stuff anymore.

i'd agree to talk to her before posting that...not kewl.....definetly would damage karma..

but , i would worry about that too...cuz when i make clothes for myself i reinforce everything and i'll wear it and like immediately sometimes i'll get a hole..patchwork is the worst...cuz u have tiny seams everywhere...i don't care how many times i stich and serge sometimes the fabric just unravels....

    anyhow...that stinks..but i say delete this thread....IMMEDIATELY

i don't think we should jump on the poster for posting this. lets say for a second that funkyphresh wasn't a poster here, she was sharing her experience. if i sent someone on this forum a product that went bad, i wouldn't expect them to not say anything to anybody... people get upset about these things and i believe are entitled to say so if they feel like they got a bad deal. however, i would also expect them to contact me, and maybe peacelovebarefeet has, or maybe she will and she will update this post.

I dont know, I say let funkyphresh have a say, I"m sure shes quite upset to know her work fell apart, shes a great crafty girl and shes reasonable and rational... I do think this could have been sorted privately, but it wasnt, and we've all read it, what is deleting gonna do. If lived in the states, I"d buy from her still .

haha wow i cant believe the leg just ripped right off.. i can just imagine this happening and then you ripping them apart. I would laugh if i saw that happen.. not in a mean way though, only because it was a crappy dep. store made pair of pants and you just ripped them apart. That is cool that you mailed it back. I wonder what they thought when they got it in the mail.

also about bashing funkyphresh.. i dont think it was a bad idea to post the experience.. but maybe if you left her name out of the thread so that it wouldnt make her look bad or embarrace her would be alright to do. If someone did that to me and put my name in it i would be pretty embarrased. Ive seen her work(not in person) and she seems to be a pretty crafty person and knows what she is doing. It could have just been a simple mistake.

I agree that it messed up to post this here, but what I believe to be even worse is to buy something dirt cheap and then expect there to be hours of time devoted to the peice. I'm trying not to have this sound insulting to anyone, but when a woman or a man puts time and effort into something they should be getting an amount that is at LEAST minimum wage. (at the very least) This will raise my eyebrows if I see something sell for a dollar that I KNOW takes at least an hour of time to make. You get what you pay for really, (and thats why EBAY sucks balls)if I've sold something I spent hours on it and sold it at cost (as much as I paid for the fabric) I would be pretty upset. (and I have done it before, unfortunatly) I think if we all respect the craft, people will get better and be able to work at their art rather than scrounge for cash to eat. I'm sorry that your pants ripped, but you prob couldve settled it with the mama who made em before posting here. that is really messed up that you didnt give her a chance.
My 2 cents, sorry if I came off abrasive...

Why didnt you email me about the pants first instead of posting this here and not letting me know how you felt about them ! I reinforce everything with a serger and they should not have fallen apart. I wold have fixed them for you, or been glad to refund you or even let you exchange them for something else............ I can understand you wanting to vent but I also think it was uncalled for to post this here without contact me and giving me a chance to make things right. I stand behind my products and will do what it takes to make my customers happy and this makes it sound like I refused to fix them for you and you never contacted me at all to let me know you were unhappy.

I am sorry if this reply sounded bitchy.
