I've recently had a colposcopy regarding an abnormal smear. The doctor believes that I'm in the moderate to severe stage of Cervical Dysplasia and I am now awaiting confirmation from the biopsies that she took. Treatment will be through LLETZ which is the removal of abnormal cells using a wire loop (sounds great!). She was a lovely doctor and performed her job quickly and efficiently. However, I'm more interested in the cause of the abnormal cells and what I can do to change them before I jump into mutilation! As always with western medicine the patient is usually ill-informed and dis-empowered. I'm all for knowledge and self-empowerment yet I won't just believe claims of 'alternative cures' because I want them to work. So I will accept the LLETZ treatment if it comes to it. Blargh. Anyway, what I would like to know is if anyone knows about or has any experience with natural progesterone, have you heard of Beta-Manann, and what about colloidal silver? I've read small amounts about each but these are generally biased in favour of the product. I'd love to hear anyone's experiences and opinions with any form of treatment. Thanks folks!

GET A SECOND OPINION! I had an abnormal pap smear, but just to make sure, I went to a different doctor and got another pap smear, that one came back normal...so I went to ANOTHER one..and it came back normal again. If you are diagnosed with ANYTHING...always get a second opinion...especially if you're depending on any western medicine.
right now i'm reading a book called detoxification and healing by sidney baker. he says: excellent book, get it, read it
too much folic acid can harm you though, as said , allways get a second opinion, im sure you would tho. my mum had to have abnormal cells removed, it was pretty nasty to be honest, but its over quickly usually, and safe and you know you will be sure, cervical cancer is a big killer, it really is best to get the treatment overwith asap. goodluck hunny.xxx

what!?? excuse me but can you please tell me exactly how folic acid can hurt someone? the only side effect that i am aware of is an interaction with the absorption of vite b12, and if one were to supplement with b12 while taking large doses of FA, there wouldnt be a problem. http://www.safeway.com/wellness/healthnotes.asp?org=safeway&ContentID=2846002 folic acid is THE most important vitamin to take if a person wants to prevent cancer. there's a lot of recent research to back that up.
