    does boiling a color-changer destroy it's color-changing abilities?

I don't know, I wouldn't think so though. Don't bother boiling it anyways. Just soak it in some 91% or better isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol). After it's soaked for a while, use some salt inside the pipe to act as an abrasive. Just give it a good shake and it should come clean.

It's never damaged my bubbler, or the colour-changing pipe of a friend of mine, from my observations.

I would have thought boiling water would be better than alcohol and salt, though.

Nothing will take the "color changing" aspect of your piece away-it's a part of the glass. What causes the color change is resin/goober/nasties building up behind the glass-not the glass itself.

Although boiling works, the kitchen and pot you use will SMELL-go with alcohol and rice-it's soooo much easier.
