Regina does love to play the school ma'am in her Victorian bustle & armed with a loving but firm hickory stick... 1 conspiracy but not 2 conspiracys... 1 history but never 2 historys, yet 1 Toy Boy and always 2 Toy Boys... why is this so? The secret is in the letter before the 'y'. In singular nouns that end in 'y' - like boy, toy, and holiday - where the second last letter is a vowel (as in the 'o' in boy and toy, and the 'a' in holiday) the plural is always 's': thus, boys, toys and holidays... When singular nouns that end in y, where the y is preceded by a consonant: like in 'conspiracy', or even in a name like 'Hanratty', the plural is always 'ies'. All naughty boys who hereafter err shall be taken across Regina's knee have their pants pulled down and their bottoms tanned. No girls are capable of such mistakes.
Everything young sir. Language is indispensable to thought, and poorly spelt language leads to poorly erected thoughts, as surely as all badly spelt thoughts lead to poor erections. Is that clear?
I think I've done conspiricies but if I bugged you that much..... well I don't really care if that bothers you enough to make a thread then that seems a bit daft....... yes I misspelled intentionilly
