I like kiwis. They're ever so cute!! Did you know that kiwis are the only species of birds that have their nostrills at the very end of their beak?

im allergic to kewi's - but im talking about the fruit!!!! i thought kewi's - the bird were extinct maybe im getting confused with dodo's!!

More about kiwis, hm? Well everybody knows that they are the cutest but also the grimmestest and most frostbittenest animals on the planet. For a long time they hadn't had natural enemies (until humans brought new ones along) because they had quickly risen to the dominant carnivore on the island, the top of the food chain, so to speak. They were swift, deadly predators and with their razor-sharp talons and beaks tore all carnivores that could still be a minor threat to them to pieces (showcasing also their superior intelligence), which enabled them to develop a smaller size (they originally stood up to seven feet tall) and different eating habits - mainly insects and other stuff found in the ground. So when the Europeans came to New Zealand they brought along new predators like rats and dogs, while the kiwis had long lost their ways of defense. They have been brought to the verge of extinction. Yet they still retain a sense of their triumphant, savage past: most kiwis not born in captivity have been noticed enjoying true Norwegian black metal, actually tweeting along with the riffs and vocal lines while looking grim (imagine a kiwi looking like this:)

But they're still extremely cute, no? ^_^
