Day One-God spoke light and light appeared.Day and nightDay Two-Sky and heavens Day Three- Earth Ocean Plants Day Four-Stars Sun Moon Day Five-Fish Birds Day Six-Land animals Humans Plants Day Seven-Rest At what point were the angels created? When did God and Lucifer fight? It must have been before day six. God cast Lucifer down to the Earth, so why did he put humans on the Earth where he knew they would be bothered by Satan(when did the name change?) Why are there these big gaping holes in the story? I am frustrated..
i too am wonder ing about the story of lucifer falling... not nesecarily ro wear it firs into the creation story, but if it is even written down...
Lucifer isn't mentioned in Genesis - only the serpent. Later on, the idea came in from somewhere that satan had entered into the serpent. I have no idea where the story of the war in heaven comes from or the fall of Satan - I believe there are references to it in several gnostic texts, but these were banned by the church quite early on.
I don't remember any mention of Satan or fallen angels anywhere in the old testament except in Job, and in that book he's potrayed as someone who has free reign to come and go as he pleases in heaven and earth. In fact in Job he's allowed to challenge God in what smacks more of a freindly wager than a war.
Maybe, because those long forgotten prophecies of that ancient yarn are being fulfilled in the day we live in?

i hate this, gnostic texts that could give everyone a better understanding of christianity are banned by the church because they dont fit in with their blinkered view of how they want things. and campbell34, shut up, all the prophecies and predictions that you cling to are just shakey interpretations of ambiguous writings. and please don't tell me how i'm going to spend eternity in hell because i defied a god whose love is apparently boundless.
The only thing be "full-filled" are people's heads are being FILLED FULL of this bullshit. :sunglasse

See Milton's Paradise Lost. Many people have ideas today that aren't from the Scriptures at all, but are influenced by Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress and Milton's Paradise Lost....including the idea of Lucifer/Baalzebub, son of the morning star, falling from heaven. To the poster of the thread: does it really matter exactly how creation occurred ? Does it matter whether evolution happened or that the world was created in seven days? If I could, I would take the creation story and Revelation out of the Bible. It would make things so much easier if we would stop arguing about the beginning and the end and start doing something about our faith now. End soapbox
Hello, here are some thoughts: The Angels already existed, as seen in Genesis 1:26, "Let us make man . . ." The creation story may be a story of terra-forming, as God executed a hostile take over of what had been given to Lucifer - but totally botched. The Adam and Eve story may be as much a story of catastrophic survival as is the story of Noah. In the old testament, names usually changed during momentus events, as in the case of wrestling all night with an angel and prevailing. Christ said in Luke 10:18 that He had beheld Satan falling like lightening. It will be difficult to understand the 'when' of the divine battle as long as time is viewed in a linear fashion. It take a more circular approach to understand that while God is present with you and I, He is also attending the victory over His enemies; the casting down of Lucifer; the changing of his name; and the casting out of heaven of all the fallen angels. Speaking of fallen angels, it is interesting to note, in the book of Revelation, when Christ is speaking to the seven churches, He is more accurately speaking to the angel over each church. To one He says, "remember from whence thou art fallen".
id leave Revelations...didnt Jesus say that only the Father, not even He, knows when the Final Judgement and whatnot wil take place...all the p[ople loking for signs, and trying to predict it and tlak ablout how "oh, and such and such country will be destroyed and yadda yadda yadda" need to realise that trying to forsee the event is futile...you need to be aware [not like edge of the seat ready to jump ou at any given time] but yeah...someone wil probobly have something to say bout this BTW- nice sig quote ...one of the best movies ever
Though this may not be relevant, it is my understanding that Muslims see Lucifer as being the top angel, who loved God too much to submit to man, whom God aparently loved more than the angels. So he basically went into a rage, leading the rebellion.
The Angels were most likely created before the Earth was created. It's obvious that Satan entered that serpent...
okay i am tired of bible stories IM THROUGH, I can live on my general sense of right and wrong, i think thats why god gave me a conscience
I picture most of that creation stuff as an over simplified way to explain things spiritual, in a physical realm. I do not dwell too long and hard on it. My thoughts mainly deal with Man's present and Man's future. As I have written at this forum and elsewhere, rules like the Ten Commandments, are not just the key to landing in a good place in the afterlife, but they are the key to Man surviving and handing the world over to successive generations. The Ten Commandments might as well be called the ten great ideas. When I talk about landing in a good place in the afterlife, I am not necessarily talking about hell-fire and the devil. People who are too focused on the material world, and then suddenly die, often end up as such things as angry ghosts. Their hate and selfishness impairs them from moving on to a better place.
I would like to try and help you, if I can. I know you're frustrated, and it totally sucks not to know the answer to plaguing questions... Rather than occupy a lot of space with my rambling, I'm gonna direct you to some articles by link, and if you decide to change your mind about Bible stories, you'll at least have them to refer to. When were the angels created? The article is a bit long, but bear with it!! http://home.christianity.com/topics/45457.html Why did G-d put Satan on earth with His Creation? I'm going to rephrase this as "Why did G-d allow for evil to be in His Universe?", just because you can't answer one without the other: http://www.str.org/free/commentaries/apologetics/evil/agoodrea.htm About the name change, it isn't really a name change. "Satan" is more of a title, "Lucifer" is his personal name. Kind of like, when we call him "the Devil"... It's not his name, it's his position... (If you can call it a position ) There are holes because the Bible isn't strictly chronological. It's like a regular story... It refers to events in the past, and even in the future at times, even though it pretty much explains events in the order they happen. Please don't give up yet... The pursuit of knowledge is worthy in itself, even if you don't apply it to your salvation. (Which, of course, I hope you will.)
So donut holes don't exist; they're just the absence of donut. Shadows don't exist; they're just the absence of light. And evil doesn't exist; it's just the absence of good. Wonderful, so good doesnt exist it is just the absence of evil? Are good and evil equal forces? Why would God put humans on the same planet that a bad angel lives in/on? Thanks to everyone that replied.
