As usual I wasn't very clear. What I meant was buying food at Albert Heijn was cheaper than eating out. Duh! I did say though that Albert Heijn prices seemed steeper than the high prices I pay here in California.
We just got home from Amsterdam.... we were there last week! At the supermarket we got very large bottles of water for ,40 euro as opposed to the 2,5 euro the hotel wanted to charge for a small bottle of water... Febo was interesting... Frites... YUM....
Did you have a good one ''spryte'' ? Yeh, Chips and Mayo, can't beat that for a quick snack. Any favourite coffee shops you liked.?
Hi Myrtje People drink from them while walking around in the heat. Not because they think the drinking water is unsafe. is that what you were thinking?
I still buy the small bottles of water sometimes (spa blauw) if I'm walking somewhere.. and then I recycle them at home by filling them with fresh tap water or ehm.. whatchamacallit.. soda? The sirop thingie.. it's called ranja in dutch (which sounds really cool if you pronounce it in english, because then it rhyhmes with ganja.. hehehe).. Anyway... yeah.. tap water. Good.
Well... I wasn't really there for the coffeeshops (Major Slut definitely was) He liked Smokey best, mostly because it was next to our hotel (NH Schiller - Rembrandt park) and it reminded him of a Pittsburgh bar. We were at a cool one in the RDL too, but I don't remember the name of it (internet 1,5 euro for 15 min) The Dampkring looked pretty cool... but it was packed, so he just grabbed something to go. The thing we didn't like was all the techno!! A metal coffeeshop would have been awesome.
the cave (prinsengracht near leidsestraat) isn't a coffeeshop but they seem to allow people getting high in there, and the music is all metal. nice little club imo. live music on weekends. love s g collins
Love the recipes, Spryte Yes, techno does seem to dominate a good proportion of the coffee shops, but if I'm honest this is my thing, well, not techno as such, more sophisticated trance music. If I remember correctly, I think there's a ''metal'' based coffee shop in the RLD, or itleast a place where you can smoke it but not necessarily buy it. Infact there are loads of places around A'dam that allow smoking but don't sell. The Dampkring is always busy imo, but always worth a peak even if it's just for a quick visit, score and go, as they have a fairly decent menu selection. Hope you had a good time
For some reason I never noticed techno music being played in coffeeshops.. hmz.. hehe.. maybe I accidently stumble into the other places? I dunno.. I really like the vibe in Easy Times, although I only have been there twice and both had really bad experiences.. hehe. First time I got so stoned that I became somewhat paranoia.. my bf got so stoned that he passed out a little, which made me think he was dieing so I started to slap him in the face untill someone came with sugarwater for him (he was able to speak again after drinking that.. his words were 'don't ever bitchslap me in public'.. hehe.. ) The second time was last week, I walked in with some friends when I got huge period cramps, could barely walk and had to take a taxi home.. god that was painfull. But still.. I love the vibe.. hehe.
''Bitch Slap'' Velvet, you just made my day, that was hillarious.LOL I can just picture the scenario. (I'm still laughing)
hehe.. glad that I amuse you Looking back on it it's funny (and slightely embarrasing...).. but I still get paranoid over him when I'm stoned.. just him for some reason.. weird. Dude at a coffeeshop recommended me to smoke 'high rize haze' instead of skunk, because it would tone down the paranoia a little.. it's very strong weed but I still get a little paranoid. Dunno why.. but weed does enhance your feelings and since I worry easily about others I think that just makes me paranoid when I'm stoned. I just don't get paranoid when I smoke with my African friends, because they smoke way more than I do and I know they will be ok..
Talking of embarrassment. When I was there last in Feb, I actually witnessed a bloke pass out too in a coffee shop. Me and the dealer had to help him outside so that he could sit on a chair and gain sanity. His girlfriend didn't know what to do so suggested out loud sugared water through a straw and all was fine later on. Unfortunately for him, when I left to go elsewhere, I checked on them both and he had pissed himself. So there he was, sprawled out in full view of Warmoesstraat tourist traffic, stoned to hell, with a huge wet patch on his blue jeans. What a sight, and sadly he was English, typical stuff.LOL
LOL.. yeah.. tourists can be very funny heehee. I was on a tram a few days ago and there were these three American guys with no clue where the were.. they were talking out loud about it so someone pointed out to them that the next stop would be Dam Square. They jumped up, all happy to have some sense of direction. The tram had to stop for a red light at that point, but they thought they had arrived at the Dam-stop so they frantically tried to open the door, looking a bit anxious because ofcourse the door didn't open.. hehe.. at that point they were standing next to me so I told them this wasn't the stop yet.. they seemed so lost! Hehe.. and actually I think they came from a pretty large city in the US.. can't remember the name.. westcoast I think, maybe Seattle. Then one of the guys started telling about how he bought a Heineken glass in a can, that he already dropped at least 3 times already but it still wasn't broken.. good quality.. yadayada.. hehe.. tourists rule Or like a few months ago when I walked to the metro station at Waterlooplein and these two British blokes approached me sort of gigglish to ask where the RLD was, because they were lost.. hehe.. was happy to point them in the right direction, poor naughty fellows
I was just wondering why, not really thinking anything haha. It could be though that some people think its unsafe to drink water from the tap, its gross in France and other southern countries. What heat btw? Its been cold, rainy, and cloudy here ever since i came back from Spain
Haha i love tourists aswell, i hate being one in another country though. Not that i dont like other countries, i just hate looking like im completely lost.
I thought i had heard that it was very hot. Then again, it might have only been for a couple of days.
today it's pretty warm, but in a very humid way. It rained like crazy in Amsterdam yesterday.. some streets looked flooded because the waterthingies couldn't handle all the rain. In the evening it cleared up which gave a real strange vibe.. there was mist, it was a nice temperature ànd it was getting dark.. strange combination. Today it's slightly clouded but the sun is still sorta strong.. making in warm and humid, at least in the part where I live.
