Funny you should post this 'cause today at work I was listening to an internet radio station that was playing The Cure and I got thinking of how much I loved this band and how I don't listen to them often enough. My first introduction to them was back in 1983 when I saw them doing 'The Walk' on some British music show (TOTP, or Old Grey Whistle Test....can't remember). Anyways, it brought back many memories.
i think they had good singles. because of all the drugs and alcohol they used to take i find their albums a bit uneven. Robert Smith made a great psychedelic album with one of The Banshees, called The Glove. They are a great 80s band i reckon.
I adore The Cure! They've got such a lot of great songs. Singles, but also album songs. Robert Smith has really got a special voice, you love or you hate it, I think. And I definitely love it I think their album Disintegration is the best.
they got an awesome song off the crow soundtrack, Burn, other then that dont know much cure, would like to though, got any ideas where i should start?
Yeah man they're great. First of all, Smith is a lyrical genius in my opinion, unlike many songwriters of that whole 80s era. Course there were others, but none quite like Smith. The lyrics sometimes just grab at your insides, and how the melody is sometimes so melancholic, it's so pongant somehow. Many great albums, although i have to admit, Smith is a bit, how to say.. fucked up lol. Maybe thats the irony of it. The last album was horrible in my opinion. Every single song sounded the same exept for their single "the end of the world". I think Smith and the band need to retire with the whole music thing. I'm not taking anything away from Smith, he has great talent, but that last album was really bad. It kind of felt like the album was just made for themselves you know, for that rush musicians get when they put out a new album. It felt like it was forced, like the lyrics and all didn't come out naturally. anyhow, i think i've rambled enough^_^. Peace, Angela~
