check out http://www.treesftf.org/main.htm ... for just 40 bucks, theyll plant enough trees to offset the pollution of the average car for a year to help cool the world. they even break down the science that stopping driving isnt gonna stop global warming(but its a damn good thing to do), and that we need to make the world a lot more greener and fix a lot of the destruction thats taken place, which makes a lot of sense to me.... very legit good looking organization, and 40 bucks isnt shit to a lot of americans.....

while were at it, i read a quote the other day that the meat industry is second only to automobiles in terms of environmental pollution. makes a lot of sense really, animals raised for food in this country shit an estimated 86,000 pounds a second, all without sewage systems. a lot of that shit has methane in it which evaporates and is about four times more efficient at trapping heat than car gases are..this is just one of many atrocities the meat industries have commited though, i wont get into the rest right now... but if you really care, you can always just go vegetarian, its so easy...

the fact I dislike the taste of salads and most green veggies, my tastebuds are used to meat.

But I really want to try and reverse it so my tastebuds hate meat, because looking at those big green leafed veggies looks sooo good, but it makes me gag when I try and eat them.

dude you do not even have to eat vegetables. for so long i would not touch a salad or vegetable or hardly even a fruit as a vegetarian, and was still way healthier than i used to be... there is so much more to munch on as a vegan now a days, the possibilities are endless. i am vegan and still eat vegetables and salads very rarely.... have you tried any of the huge variety of fake meat? vanilla soymilk? just about any cereal? pancakes(with organic eggs or egg replacer)? peta bread sandwhiches? whole wheat bread? sandwhiches with veganaise or hummus dip are a great way to introduce vegetables into your diet, or just veggies dipped in hummus or some kinda sauce....granola, chips, certain cookies, etc etc.. it really isnt as hard as you think, just takes a tiny bit of mindfulness and some simple decision making... and its so worth it. even if you just eat LESS meat, the world will be that much better off. for example if you chose a granola bar over say some bacon for breakfast one morning, you will still be making a difference.

    Getting back on topic...

$40 to offset a car's pollution? That's so incredibly cheap the governments should be forced to add this as tax onto a car. It's such a tiny amount of the cost of a vehicle, that it would be fantastic!

Thing is, given the huge number of cars, and the number of trees required... is there enough space for all the trees? In the UK all the land is pretty much allocated to either urban concrete jungle, farming, existing working forests, or a handful of wildlife areas such as moors where tree planting would actually have a negative effect.

    Hurumph!
