I work in a hospital that uses disposable thermometers. I'm told that mercury is all but obsolete. I still have mine in the medicine cabinet. I plan on having it until I die. Do you find mercury something to fear ... or to embrace ?
Yeah, most thermometers today are made with alcohol. I know there is a big problem with mercury found in seafoods, but I haven't looked into it too much since I don't eat any of that. I think we're relatively okay. If you think about the number of toxins present in our daily lives, even if mercury was completely removed, there would be no notable change in the health of us, the wildlife, or plant life. ... and mmHg is a pressure reading, it's just Hg, but that's beside the point.
and right you are. I just didn't feel like writing "Hg" by itself. Millimeters of mercury (mm Hg) Pressure can be measured in millimeters (mm) of mercury (Hg). Millimeters of mercury refers to the height of a column of mercury attached to an instrument that detects pressure. if (document.all) { window.onload=HWResize; window.onresize=HWResize;}
well i uesd to let it roll around in my hand in grammerschool ! im not a mad hatter! but yes if it is released into the enviroment in such a way that i cant eat the fish it is bioacumilitive were i grew up there is a dam on a resivior witch has thousands of pounds of mercury laden heavy metals built up on the dam so now it is not a resivior any more and you cant eat the fish! major problem when a person cant feed them sevles with the local recorces! they cant remove it because that will release more of the mercury into the enviroment than leaving it alone! just another example of how the industrial revolution progressed us futher into oblivion!
