i'm agnostic so take the "evil" lightly. but i mean, over religious tolerance, is it possible to hate a specific religion without being a bigot ? don't say hate is unjustified, i would like to know if yes or no if in your opinion hating a religion and not others is always bad. thanx
Hmm, tough one. On one hand, the religion may seem to be leading people in a bad direction, but it may be helping them at the same time. For example, Christianity seems to have, in general, a hatered for gays. But it is also the spiritual center of many people's lives. Is Christianity bad because it hates gays, even though it brings many people to God? I'd say it's not the religion but the way it's used, and that means it's the people, the culture even. Guns aren't bad in themselves, they can provide food, entertainment, even protection. But they can also cause pain, misery, and death. In the end, it comes down to the guy who's holding the gun.
Totally agree with Brandon Without really putting much thought in, yeah you probably could hate a religion. It is after all a fairly abstract concept. Certainly the attitudes of a rather well known religion have often made me want to rip my hair out. Then after putting some thought in I realise that it would be stupid to write it off. Yeah there are some self righteous morons, but there are far more followers who are perfectly decent people. Really I have a bigger issue with the ignorance not to see that. Short answer: it's not so much bad, as illogical.
