i have a plant on 24/0 lighting, it been about a month, in 2 months or so when i go on 12/12 lighting would it be a good idea to put my plant out side in the sun for its 12 hours of light?

i live in northern california and it is still warm and sunny in september. is real sun light better for the plant then in door lights?

O.K. as of july 22, if you get a plant flowering under 12/12 lighting indoor for two weeks, make sure it is flowering not preflower stretching still.
Then stick it outside and it will continue budding outdoors because the longest day of the year is july 22 and after that days get shorter.
In a nutshell- yes it should work fine.Bud it for two weeks on 12/12 inside first.

jshep: Howdy neighbor, I'm a fellow N. Californian.
Since your plants are under a 24/0 cycle, they're start to bud as soon as you put them outside.
I'd suggest you do this asap, because as you know we can get our first frosts in mid-Oct.

P.S. The longest day of the year (this year) was June 21.

I grow strictly indoors but I was under the impression that plants start flowering at the equinox. Your plants should flower outside from when we start gettin 12 hours of darkness and that woulld be when we start falling into the equinox if Im not mistaken, but then again I never grew anything outside so I wouldnt know fer shure.

Marijuana usually starts budding way before the fall equinox (this year, 09/22).
Half of my outdoor ladies are already 3--4 weeks into flowering.

When they bud is strain-dependant. The ones that are budding will be done mid-Sept.
However, I have some S-dom's that are still in full veg (though experiencing lots of secondary growth, meaning they will start in a few weeks at most).

Indica's and I-doms finish first. Outside, full sativa's won't finish to mid-Nov (or later). Out where I live nowadays the frosts/freezes will kill marijuana before that.

How many hours of darkness did the ones ya got flowerin start flowerin at, didja notice? I kinda figured some Herbs can be put into flower with less than 12 hours light but I was just wonderin how much light ya can give some Herbs while still keepin them in flower.

I'm not 100% sure what strain it is that is already 3--4 weeks along.
Keeping in mind that no bud development is visible for the first 2 weeks of flowering, they triggered about early July, just a few weeks at most past the longest day of the year.
Every winter the local growers get together to sample each others crops. I reserved clones from 3 different people and promptly lost the list. But my friend thinks they are a Tibetan strain. The story is that these are the strain that Tibetan Temple Balls are made from. Whatever, it's some of the most potent pot I've ever smoked. The night I tried it, I remember reaching for a 4th bong rip, I don't remember anything else until I woke up in the woods the next morning, dressed in a moose suit.

Indoors I always keep my light on a 13/11 cycle for flowering.

    Lumpy how are ya.
Also=- plants will bud indoors on 15/7, but the buds will be more elongated, And I am currently using an 11 hour day/13 hour night- because i have a rare equatorial sativa in there, it needs 11/13.. The days are 12/12 on the equator most of the year, so you have to take thai's and columbians lower than 12/12.
June 22 is actually the longest day- so by july 22 any plant that is already in flower should not lose stride, or revert, if put outside.
And some strains will act one way, others completely different. I wouldnt try putting a sativa dom out unless already into full flowering- preflower stretch over.
    But thats just me...

If your talking about putting it out at 6 am and bringing it in at 6 pm you could do that now, it will bud -but you gotta do it at exactly the same time everyday, or you could cause her to hermie.
