What is funny about the caste system in India is permeates all religions

Dalit christians are discriminated by upper class christians regularly

And there exists some form of divide between converted muslims(of hindu origin) and muslims who are of direct descendents of the muslim's who invaded india
    The former are considered inferior
So much for universal brotherhood ?

basically discrimination on the basis of one's
    caste sucks !

The church's forced conversion of poor gullibe people also sucks !

Religons must grow organically not inorganically through mergers and acquisitions
Mergers and acquisitions among different religions creates a lot of bad blood and hatred

The fact Christians care about these people, even if it's just for conversion is something at least.

Sadly, phil, from my experience, they dont care. All they want is to boost the membership of their church. I know from experience, since I once got suckered into working for one of these guys.

The fact that dalit christians and muslims are still discriminated against shows how entrenched all this is.

I don't think hindus should convert to christianity or islam in particular. It would be better if Indian society could be reformed. The discrimination, I think we all agree, has no place in a truly spiritual culture. People should be free to pursue whatever religion they want, and it sholudn't be offered to them as a kind of bribe. But they should also be free from stigma attached to birth -

Oh yea its entrenched alright, even in the government , the brahmins now have to work four times as hard to get into a medical school in India, while the dalits don't have to work that much- the affirmative action thing. Its just destroying india and creating more prejudice with in the groups in everything almost.

There is one anti-hindu site that I know of run and operated with support from christian institutions

Some of the stuff you will find on this website is extremely ridiculous
    while others are exaggerated

Their ridiculous claims are not backed by even a single ounce of data

I stand corrected then Bhaskar / Half a Hippie on the Christian front. Again I agree with you also BlackBillBlake,

It just amazes me how such discrimination exists in India. Considering the spiritual culture.

Ummmm.... luckily there is no class prejudice elsewhere in the world. Here in America, everyone is treated equally no matter how much money they have.

In Soviet Russia, Test takes you.

Remember Sabari? Or Jatayu and Sampaati...

Sri Rama blessed the tribal low-caste woman. He even gave jatayu, the carrion-fowl saroopya mukti (liberation and the body identical to Vishnu) and Sampaati, Jayatu's brother was also liberated. The "bhaktas" of the same Sri Rama perpetrate these atrocities.

Ignorance leads to blind faith, blind faith leads to intolerance, intolerance leads to hatred, hatred tears apart society.

Yes your right, oppression is everywhere.

Take Pakistan, Mohammed Ali Jinnah the founders words have been absent from all schools and military college curricula for 30 years,

"You are free, you are free to go to your temples, you are free to go to your mosques in this state of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion or caste or creed - that has nothing to do with the business of the state."
