Excellent thread!! Top 5 would have to be: 1) Rear Window 2) Vertigo 3) Psycho 4) Shadow of a Doubt 5) Strangers on a Train But hell, man, North By Northwest, The Birds, and Notorious were great too. How can you go wrong with [most] Hitchcock? They're all great movies to trip to. I mean, it's almost like murder for Hitchcock was sort of a "drawing room" joke. An unfortunate bit of nasty business, but nothing terribly gory or graphic (shower scene in Psycho is an exception). Nothing to even get down about ("We all go a little mad sometimes," eh?) How about Alfred Hitchcock Presents episodes (also great to trip to----kinda weird, I know, but I dropped one day when TV Land had on an episode marathon)? Ever see 'Lamb to the Slaughter' with Barbara Bel Geddes? 'Back for Christmas' with John Williams? Outstanding stuff.
Movies back then were "real" movies if you know what i mean. Today everything is surrounded by so much hype and a lot of "actors" can't act at all. The way Hitchcock could tell a story and the actors he chose was perfect. A lot of people don't realise though, that Janet Leigh was only in Psycho for not even half the movie. She is so famous for that role. The remake was crap. I don't know why people do that, well, they try to recapitalise on a previous concept that worked. It never does. The black and white older version was perfect.
I guess my favorites would be... The Trouble with Harry Marnie Torn Curtain Rear Window North by Northwest Vertigo I absolutely burn myself out on Hitchcock movies though...once I buy them and have them a few months,I may not watch them again for a year...but they tend to renew themselves when I do watch them again. They'll never make movies like these again, and I don't even want to see a remake. These are movies that cannot be improved upon.
My favorites were: The birds Psycho I loved birds sooo much! Haha...I laughed so hard, but at the same time, it freaked me out. Good movie.
Yeah Wonder Girl! The Trouble with Harry is maybe my #1 of all times. I believe that it was Hitchcock's favorite too. What a great movie :sunglasse
I AM A HITCHCOCK BUFF. Psycho is my favorite film all-time, since I was 11. Rope 2 Vertigo 3 Rear Window 4 Dial M For Murder 5
Psycho is one of my favorite movies of all time. Mainly because I am an Anthony Perkins fan. Also The Birds and Vertigo.
