What has happened to the new rock music of today? I was having a discussion with my dad and we were talking about how new music doesnt have any solos anymore. Why? That is what makes rock music so great, all the solos and the music breaks. People dont just jam out anymore, unless its a old time band like the allman brothers, thats all they do is rock out with music. which by the way i will be rockin out in scranton pa in august to see the allman brothers for the 3rd time this year :). All new music is is verse chorus verse chorus verse chorus... blahhh no fun. People need to start bringing music back into music. That is one of the main reasons i do not listen to new music, it all sounds the same. Anyone agree or disagree??

There's plenty of real music in rock today, you just have to know where to look. I mean, just look at all the projects that Les Claypool has been doing. And then you have all the other jam bands.

man I thought these past two years (04 and 05) have seen a hell of a lot of good music come out.

no one really does solos anymore because those damn hair bands wore it all out.... now its just cliche to do tons of solos...... riffs are where its at now.

I disagree. There are plenty of nowdays rockbands that still have solos in their music. It's true that they don't jam out very much anymore though.

2004 and 2005 have both been two of the best years in quality underground music that I can remember for a long while,
throw out your TV, radio and magazines and get hunting the internet as it's all out there waiting to be found :)

    Eh?

All people seem to know is the Allman Bros... a lot of people that have never been to a dTB, Susan Tedeschi, mule/haynes/phil lesh & Friends, oteil/peacemakers, gregg allman & friends, Dickey Betts & Great Southern etc. show have yet to live... Their other bands and projects are damn good... especially when you see Gov't Mule live, mostly because they play for so damn long, although the lengthy soundchecks can get a llittle annoying, but that's just part of the show.

I wish i could play music, i tryed it once but it didnt quite work out. I dont expect people to play a 30 min solo either. Just all the music that i hear anymore is not good. People make a 3-4 minute song with the same music over and over again and its rather boring. maybe if they shut up for a minute and jammed out it would be cool.

Maybe im not looking in the right places, i dont listen to the radio anymore because that is all they play is crap, and i can never find what i am looking for on the internet. Anyone knows of any good new bands id really like to know about them.

Listen to Orsino and madcrappie, and check out the events and festivals forum. It's out there. All kinds of music, and you'll find some to suit your taste. Go to nugs.net radio link for a start. seek and you shall find. or the music will find you.

what is your taste in music? or what has it been in the past? then maybe someone could steer you to what you might like, that you haven't heard yet.
