    ARTICLE 18

    United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948

    Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.

    The First Amendment

    The Constitution of the United States of America

    Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof: or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

    If there is any fixed star in our constitutional constellation, it is that NO official, high or petty, can prescribe what shall be orthodox in politics, nationalism, religion or other matters of opinion or force citizens to confess by word or act their faith therein, If there are ANY circumstances which permit an exception, they do not now occur to us." United States Supreme Court (1943) West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette, 319 US 624.



    What is Meant by Religious Rights



    The Church in each place must be free to define the mission it believes it has received from God. Likewise, individual Christians and other believers must be free to practice their faith in whatever manner they believe necessary, commensurate with their not violating the same freedom of others. In addition, we affirm the understanding of religious freedom embodied in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) and other international covenants. While some actions taken in the name of religious rights may be ambiguous and will have to be addressed on a case-by-case basis, we believe that religious rights include at least the following:
    • Every person has the right to determine his or her own faith and creed according to conscience.
    • Every person has the right to the privacy of his belief, to express his religious beliefs in worship, teaching, and practice, and to proclaim the implications of his beliefs for relationships in a social or political community.
    • Every person has the right to associate with others and to organize with them for religious purposes.
    • Every religious organization, formed or maintained by action in accordance with the rights of individual persons, has the right to determine its policies and practices for the accomplishment of its chosen purposes, which implies the right:
      • to assemble for unhindered private or public worship
      • to formulate its own creed
      • to have an adequate ministry
      • to determine its conditions of membership
      • to give religious instruction to its youth, including preparation for ministry
      • to preach its message publicly
      • to receive into its membership those who desire to join it
      • to carry on social services and to engage in missionary activity both at home and abroad
      • to organize local congregations
      • to publish and circulate religious literature
      • to control the means necessary to its mission and to secure support for its work at home and abroad
      • to cooperate and to unite with other believers at home and abroad
      • to use the language of the people in worship and in religious instruction
      • to determine freely the qualifications for professional leadership of religious communities, freely naming their religious leaders at all levels and designating their work assignments

    Guess I went off on a roll lately with them,huh?
    Well some from here seem to forget what they are....calling each other names, saying they shouldn't be allowed to post in certain threads...insulting them for believing in something different then they do. Some forget that USA citizens have they right to believe in ANY religion they want even if it's different or disagrees with other members. We also have the right to decide not to have any religion at all if we don't want one.
    Basically free speech & freedom of religion is sorta what got all those silly "whats a hippy" threads going this last week. and I was sorta getting so tired of reading new posts on why someone thought someone else wasn't a hippy all because of trival stuff.

    I'm actually a big fan of the 8th amendment...which is violated daily, by our 'elected' officials appointed bots.

    gee...maybe thats why I like being reminded of my rights. Guess the freedom of speech gives me the right to be opinionated, As long as it's honest I'm ok, sorta.

    Maybe hippies in the 60's who proticiapated in protests, sit-ins & other things were HUGE fans of the 1st amendment also.

    The 13th is worded rather strange....basically giving the right to invoke slavery if a person is convicted...

    That's another one of my favs...


    And of course Article 16 is probably my least favorite...invoking income tax for the first time in the early 1900's....a 1/4 of my fucking salary automatically vanishes because of the passage of this bill.

    I have not filed income taxes for a few yrs...April 15th is just another day,
    and not cuz I haven't had a job either...I worked at a hospital, domino's pizza & a nursing home.

    There's always ways around the taxman but I work for a company that keeps the books straight now.

    Doesn't affect the cash side jobs though...@_@

    Telling them to fuck-off is your right...but telling some they are a dumb mother-fucker is wrong (1st ya need their IQ to know if they are dumb, then ya need to PROVE they are a mother-fucker & not a father-fucker....slander & libel are illegal)

    SYLLABUS: Appellant was convicted of violating that part of Cal.Penal Code Sec. 415 which prohibits "maliciously and willfullydisturb[ing] the peace or quiet of any neighborhood or person . .. by . . . offensive conduct," for wearing a jacket bearing thewords "Fuck the Draft" in a corridor of the Los AngelesCourthouse. The Court of Appeal held that "offensive conduct"means "behavior which has a tendency to provoke others to acts ofviolence or to in turn disturb the peace," and affirmed theconviction. Held: Absent a more particularized and compellingreason for its actions, the State may not, consistently with theFirst and Fourteenth Amendments, make the simple public display ofthis single four-letter expletive a criminal offense. Pp. 22-26. As long as they don't hold ya down & tattoo "Fuck the Draft" on your body then it really isn't hurting you.If ya don't like the jacket (or posts here are to offensive for ya then don't look at them)

    Fine they would owe me money, they only care if you owe them money...or if they ever put me in jail for not filing taxes (which is unconstitutional anyways) they would have to feed & clothe the kids in some way.

    not really, but seeing as the last couple times I filed I didn't get any of it cuz it went to pay back student loans...(which kept increasing even after they garnished my wages for 6 months to pay it) and the last time my ex filed, they didn't believe it when he wrote how many dependence he had living with him. (the kids sorta bounced back & forth alot and I guess IRS couldn't keep up with the soap opera)He had a hassle with IRS for 1 whole year & now neither of us filed last year.
    Like I said Govenment don't care if they owe you money...they have nothing to gain by forcing me to file.
