About National Insurance and Tax taking a massive sum of my hard earned cash (i know, welcome to the real world) but maan, they take money off what you earn, they put money onto what you buy... i wish i lived in Holland, it seems so much friendly there moneywise. I earned a good £60 2months ago and i only get £48 of it after deductions! Good thing i'm working casualyl somewhere where they pay cash in hand for August though! But grrr... i get a job to earn money not have it taken off me!
It certainly is a pisstake. I remember when I first started work, got my months paycheck in all excited at my £1200. Opened it up. £800. Where the hell does this fucking money go?!?!?!?! It's so shit and makes me SOOOOOOoooo angry. I have helped to fund the war in Iraq, G8 security, and Two Jags'...erm...two jags! I'm very proud.
If you earn less than £4,895 in a year with a part time or summer job you can claim back the income tax (but not National Insurance). http://www.direct.gov.uk/MoneyTaxAn...xArticles/fs/en?CONTENT_ID=4015583&chk=4rILzi
i know i can claim it but, my dad recons the goverment owes me a little of £100 aftrer the 2 years i worked for a Liesure Centres Cafe, probably more! Just gotta get round to claiming it... but ihaven'ted worked there for serveral months and i'm not to sure what i'm suppose to do but.,... ah well. I'll find out i neeed the money!
i remember in the yee olde office monkey IT days i got a £2000 per anum pay rise. my next wage came through and it was 3p less than before my raise!! ...something about a 'different tax bracket'. pah ~
Download the form on that link I gave and fill out one copy for each year you have worked. The details you need will be on the tax forms given to you when you left your job(s) or at the end of each year. Post the forms and a few weeks later you get a nice cheque in the post You have five years to make a claim. If you have a bank account you can also claim back any tax deducted from the interest.
