Hinduism is a way of life

He most likely respects all other religions
Thats what all hindus are taught

Yes there could be conflict if he tries to convert you to hinduism
like how tom cruise converts all his girl friends to scientology
    or you try vice vers

Respect your differences and give each other space

It all comes down to how important is religion to you and to him?

The only person who can answer your questions is that man himself
    Ask him what he thinks

    Just curious
but is he a hindu of asian origin ?

Respect and understanding is essential. All religions are a path to the same divinity, the essential core values taught in all religions are the exact same. So it shouldn't matter too much, however, there are issues that will come up. These can be sorted out only with clear and honest discussion. A prerequisite for this is a clear and correct understanding of your own religion. Being a good christian is the same as being a good Hindu.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
If the two of you take time to recognize the similarities of your spiritual lives, you'll find you have a lot more in common than apart. As Bhaskar said, all religions are a path to the same divinity, and as such, you and your boyfriend are in all truth following the goal. However, particularly in Christianity, this goal is clouded by the supposed infalibility of the Bible and the certainess that Jesus is the only way to heaven. If you, as a "semi-christian" can release any preconceptions you may have about religion and embrace a universal view of religion, you and your boyfriend will find no differences about one another in that aspect.
Best of luck to both of you however!

Having a lot in common is not like having the truth. And Bhaskar statement that all religions are a path to the same divinity may sound good but is far from true. The God of the Bible has clearly said that there are no other Gods before Him. So don't expect to worship Allah and some how stand before Jesus Christ, and expect to get a free pass into heaven. Especially when the Bible clearly states, that there is no other name given unto men to be saved, but the name Jesus Christ. The concept that you have mentioned here is purly humanistic, and has no factual or athoritative support. Also the Bible is the only Book that has the fulfilled 300 prophecies, that gives Jesus Christ the authority to forgive sin. All the other Gods of earth make their claims, but only Jesus Christ fulfilled the three hundred prophecies of the Old Testament.

So if God is God do men go to the sensual heven promised by the Hindu God? And if we don't go there is the Hindu God a liar? Or is Satan really God, because their Bible states that he is? Or is the Morman God really God and he says that if we follow him, we all get are own planet and we all will have eternal sex for eternity and we get to create are own populations forever. And if there is a real God who goes along with all the other religions of the world, then is He not supporting all the lies that are being told by all the other religions that counterdict each other? And did Jesus Christ waste His time dieing on the cross when all these other religions could get you to heaven just as easy? That would mean the Christian God must be stupid? So which God or religion is telling the truth? If God is one, why can't He get His story right?

for one, you christianity is completely opposed to his hinduism. hinduism presents a many faceted concept of God, rich in colors and diversity and poetic expressions while christianity is rather monochromatic with god being the law giver and we are all guilty and if you don't do what god wants, then he gets mad and will hurt you

I disagree. Ignoring campbell's rant, Christianity should be a religion of peace. The Bible, likewise, is figurative. Unfortunately, many modern day Christians consider the Bible infallible and have strictified their religion away from the path of spirituality and into the path of lawfulness.
Hinduism, however, like you said, presents a greater concept of a deity rather than the limited view of Christianity. Hinduism, is not however a religion, moreover a way of life. It is compatible with all religions, as all religions led to the same end, and it is merely karma that brings you onto a certain path.

For clarification purposes, Campbell, Allah is the deity of Islam, not Hinduism. There are multiple devas of Hinduism, and one could consider Allah and the Christian god to be devas, however, they all led to Brahmin.
Furthermore, as for the life of Jesus, there is a similar (possibly the same) character in Hindu faith. Saint Issa I believe is his name. Both religions can claim his influence, so you are not alone in respecting his way of life.

It was Jesus Christ who fulfilled the three hundred prophecies of the Old Testaments. What does hinduism offer as evidence for their belief. And when their are major disasters around the world it is usually the Christians who lead the relief efforts. And in India some years ago, when there people were starving, cows would pass them on the streets, but many would rather die than risk killing an ansestor who's spirit was in the cow. It was a Christian nation that came to their aid with a high breed rice crop that pull them from disaster. I will stick with a faith that looks after people rather than cows.

If a person really respects God then He will as the Bible states become Born Again into Christ. And as I have stated, only Christ fulfilled the 300 prophecies of the Old Testament. No other God's can make that claim. Talk is cheap, and the God of the Bible has given us the evidence. Anything outside of Jesus Christ is blind faith that is built on no evidence. You are left with thousands of God's that have only one comon link, and that is, they all counterdict each other. The Bible clearly teaches, God is not the author of confusion.

You constantly repeat over and over again that Jesus has fulfilled all of these prophesies. Is this the only evidence you use to justify your religious convictions? My way of life teaches that Jesus is just as much a part of my spirituality as the Buddha or any other saint, deva, or person. My place on this planet is not to put down the faith of others, or rub my courtesy efforts in their faces as evidence that I'm superior, but to be open to other faiths and release myself from the indoctrinated form I have been raised in. My place in this universe is to embrace this universe. My place is to find peace when waters still run quickly.
Much like the Christian is born again, I seek to free myself from my ego, and achieve a state of being beyond what I am now.
As for your god not being the author of confusion, I'm very confused, so perhaps it could be you causing the confusion then. You claim I am left with thousands of gods that all condradict each other. There is only one god, and that is Brahmin. All other 'gods' as you would call them are but devas or supporters of this life. The deva exist in harmony not contradiction.

Christians lead the relief efforts for 2 reasons:

    a) Christians come from cultures that have the maximum wealth, therefore they have more to give than poor places.

    b) Very many of them are out there to convert people: We give you food and shelter and money if you give up your faith and become christian. This is one of the most horrible thigns you can possibly do to a person. When they have lost everything, their wealth, their loved ones and only have their faith to fall back on. Taking advantage of their hunger and desperation, many christian groups snatch even this last remnant of themselves and with it, all sense of dignity.

As for your claim of starving people in India being helped by your crop, that is totally wrong. India has been self sufficient for food since the seventies.

It is a weak point about India and its crop failure. What about the potato famine in Ireland. It was a christian nation that starved, and no christian country helped. I find it rather impressive that people put a cows life ahead of their own. It shows great faith.

Well, it goes beyond the cows. My faith has taught me that the earth is our preserver and as such, we can take from it, but we must give back. All animals, humans included, are subject to this. We are caught in a cycle of giving and returning. It is our duty to take from the world, but it is also our duty to give back. I find that being a vegetarian pulls me closer to this, as I recognize my place of sustainance in this life.

This is tereason why cows are given so much respect in India, which is essentially an agrivcultural society. Cows are essential to till the land, provide transport, produce milk, etc. Therefore they are revered and treated with love and respect.

I wont even begin on the "Christians" who operate factory farms.

Excuse me? Where did you get this notion of Hinduism? I have been Hindu for 23 years never came across it myself. It is said there are heavens and hells, yes, but these are not considered the goal of life, they are just as binding as Earthly life.

God is one, forms are many. You may get water from a well, from the ocean, from the rain, from a gutter even, but it is still water and its nature is the same.

If you love me, you will obey my commands to love others. I will ask the Father and he will give you another Helper, the Spirit, who will always stay with you. On that last day, you will know I am in my Father, I am in you, and you are in me.

    - Jesus Christ

The spirit is life, which powers all our activity. And how should that activity be? Love others. For starters, don't pelt them with missiles in the name of the lord. It might be nice if you even respect their basic human dignity occasionally. And perhaps, if you showed tolerance and respect for their belief and faith, you might even be able to get them to understand yours in the same way. And finally, you will see, that Christ is in you and in me and in all.

This is perfectly consistent with the teachings of Hinduism. In Bhagavad Geeta Krishna says that true worship, true love of God, is in the service and love of all creation. And he very clearly says the exact same words as Christ: I am in you and you are in me. (see Bhagavad Geeta Chapter 9)

The vedas proclaim that Lord is within each of us. Christ told us that the key to the kingdom of heaven is in our hands.

God is beyond all names and forms. All names and qualities that we project upon that ideal of God are merely pointers to indicate the goal. Don't look at the finger, look where the finger points.

As for God supporting the lies of "other religions," first of all, I smile at the suggestion that Christians have never told a lie. And secondly, the power of God, the spirit, as you call it, supports all actions. If you use it for good, you will beget good. If you use it for evil, you will face the consequences of that. But God is the support of all things, good and bad, being an absolute, beyond all such pairs of opposites.

And for you, who see so much wrong with others in the world, I offer the words of Christ himself:

The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.

Jesus said to love others as you love yourself. Tell me, would you attack your own beliefs as you do those of other people?

When I last checked I believe Jesus christ lived in India

Search "jesus lived in India" on google

Dan brown I think blew the cover of this huge scam that the church has been carrying out for many centuries , a story of genocide and persecution
    coupled with lies and deciet

Noam chomsky has rightly said that
"The bible is one of the most genocidal books in history"

Hinduism is what inspired Jesus christ
and when it is proved (already done) and accepted(with the church's counter efforts this will take time) that jesus lived in India it will only serve as another death blow for your decaying church and your hallucinations that Jesus is the supreme god

I wouldn't be suprised if some people claimed
jesus was just another hindu god[IMG]

My advice to westeners is stop funding dubious christian missionaries who are busy propogating their lies and propoganda in developing countries
You are creating nothing but trouble here
